Makes perfect sense snake! Now police certificates - because I am applying for open work permit and have a job offer already....You know I have one for Jamaica & UK but the one for SA is taking too long and chances are I might get it after the interview.....but on my records with CIC they will have my PCC from 2008 when I went to Canada on a work permit and I applied from here - Jamaica.....And I haven't been to SA eversince.....will that cause a problem if I dont get it be4 the interview...???

Since they have your record in their database till 2008 (and it has police cert from SA for early years), and in this 3 years u haven't been to SA, so I guess police clearance is not that important, coz you were not there for more than 6 months duration. So ya, go ahead dude :)

yes, and where you lived before 2008, and you already gave SA police clearance cert for your previous visa. CHC will have everything in your database. Well, still if you wanna be sure, just get a new copy of police clearance from SA and attach it. it might take a little while to get it, but well u can manage it right?

""I hope you can help me with this. My wife(principal applicant) applied for a study permit and I applied to accompany her on an open work permit. We have lived in Jamaica for the past three and a half years but we do not own any real estate. I am South African and will inherit my parent`s real estate property. Will this help in establishing ties outside of Canada? Also, what else could we use to show ties?""

If your parents have lands or houses in SA, then that is one big tie, moreover I hope your parents live there in SA, that's another tie.

Additionally if your could show some property, or business, or share/stock bought in your name in SA, that would be helpful.

Regards.
I dont agree with this assessment. If you work earn money and buy a property with that money in SA than that is a strong home tie. Property owned by your parents in SA does not mean you will inherit it?! You are assuming this the VO will not make this assumption. The only other way to show strong ties to SA is if you make regular visits to SA from where ever you currently are i.e lots of travel history to and from SA

I have a notarial certificate showing that I am the legitimate heir to the property and I helped to pay for it...

That makes that you will be the future owner of the property, which is mortgaged now in order to pay your wife's tuition. make sense :)

well it's been deferred actually - my wife(principal applicant) got a phone call from the embassy, they told her to bring in her police certificates - one from Jamaica&one from UK. also I am (husband) still waiting for mine from South Africa(they take long to process them but they said(embassy) if it's not ready within the next 15 days we can still come in as long as I have something to prove that I applied(I'm trying to get that from SA.......Also we need to polish up our proof of funds statements by bringing accompanying docs. from our sponsors(relatives)........and also a consent letter from my step daughter's father - allowing us to take her with us to Canada(she's a Canadian citizen) all these are required within the next 15 days...........where are u from in Jamaica???

Hope you get all your docs. ready by that time. I understand that for some embassy that if you don't include all your required docs. they turn you down immediately. Looks like VO in Kingston are a bit more lenient as I have heard other students say that they actually give more time for you to come back with other stuff. I am not in Kingston from the rural parts. I will be collecting my police certificate in a few days. I wanted to drop off my documents already but I could not since the police certificate takes 5 days express in Kingston. I was hoping that you could have shared some info about your work permit but since its been deferred I will have to submit mines alone as I had planned. Can you share when you applied to when you actually heard from them? Do Jamaicans have to do medicals if the course of study does not include food. I noticed that instead of the family information form that is on the general Canadian website we have personal information on Kingston website and its similar. Should we include application for a temporary resident visa or just what they mentioned on Kingston website, Study permit application and personal information form?

I think it is best if you submit your WP application together with the principal applicant actually....

NO...as far as I know

Just the Study Permit for the principal applicant and Work Permit application for the spouse - both accompanied by family info for both applicants.......When we submitted ours', we included TRV applications but the VO gave them back to us and said they won't be necessary.
