I am preparing documents for OINP now. Regarding the Ties in Ontario, I do have one friend in Toronto, but we have never met in person. She is willing to write a letter for me indicating we have known each other for around two years. Is this letter really necessary? while writing the intent to reside in Ontario letter, can I say I want to reside in Toronto, or it's better to write Ontario instead? Thanks for your help! :-* This forum is awesome! it has helped me a lot because I really suck at preparing and collecting documents :'(

Hello!

I didn't include a letter, actually I only said I have friends. And yes, you could say you want to be in Toronto, could be any city in Ontario.

Remember to show them ALL ties you have with ONTARIO (or the city where you want to live in) and you'll be fine! ;)

Hello Hello...KITTY~lol.. Nice name! Your case is different since you are living in Toronto. I am living in Vancouver, so I guess I need to put more effort to convince ONIP that I WILL WILL WILL WILLX100 go to Ontario after obtaining PR :P

I did include letters from friends in Ontario, and their copies of passports too for my OINP application. I am not sure how much it helped, but I got nominated. They were people I know in person, but I don't think it would matter too much if it is online. In their letters, my friends described how we knew each other and why they thought I would be an asset to Ontario.

Good luck

Do not worry you do not need a letter, just include their full name , address and contact details (phone, email..etc) and describe your relation to them ..... i did the same and it was fine ....they did not contact my friend either..... i have no other ties to Ontario, i provided that as well as the fact that I have ontario generally and toronto specifically as my main targets for job searches and (for my case) uni of toronto and waterloo are best for a professional engineer licensing and i intend to do that there.

Just be honest about your intentions, they understand that most outlanders won't have very strong ties before landing , that is why they call it "Intention" ;)

I almost ignored this topic. I have been to Toronto and lived there. I am in India now. Seems like it's time to gather contact details of my friends and family friends, whom I have known in Toronto and Ontario. Thanks for asking this question.

Well...that's my concern, too. I don't know people offline, only a few online, and one who is close to me willing to write the letter. But I think it's still better than none...

Did you specific any city in Ontario, or just Ontario?

not needed... also friends letter wont help just mention their details in your explanation. as they are not immediate relatives so that are not considered as ties.

just explain the benefits of ontario if you are here then regarding your personal benefits and work life and your friends and their details will do.

Hm...I am worried that ONIP may reject my application simply because I have no ties in Ontario, never been to Ontario, either. :'(

many of them got it without any ties... but all docs were as per checklist and good reason to show ties will help.

I wrote a 1000 words statement of intent to reside in Ontario. Hope it helps. Just don't want to give them any chance to reject me, lol.
