Thread for September 2010 Applicants

Hello all,

It has been 5 months since my file is forwarded to New Delhi, and we did not get anything from them yet. When we enquired thru MP, they have said that its pending with the visa officer for the final decision and they cannot estimate how much more time they l take. Its been 1week since then, and we are really worried. We want to order CAIPS notes. I am in India, so can my husband order it on behalf of me?? We also use a representative for our file, so eveytime when I ask for the status, Delhi replies that am not authorized to get the info, n oly my representative can, even though am the applicant...

Can you please let me know if my husband can order CAIPS notes for me, though we use a representative? Or will the Ottawa say that only my representative is authorized to get the CAIPS Notes or what? Ur help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Also any idea, how long the visa officer will take to make the final decision, if every other check is ok???

That being said... I just came out of the Mexico city embassy with my visa (yay!! ), and I wanted to write a "what to expect"

First, they're only open to receive your papers from 8-11 AM. If you don't do it in that time you can still leave your papers, but you'll get your stuff done the next day.

Second, no matter when you arrive, (8 or 11), you'll be asked to come back at exactly 2 PM (or later in work hours) and you can't wait at the embassy.

Third, at 2 PM, they will pass you without a ticket, and you'll have to remember who was before you (or ask), so when they ask for "next for papers" you know it's you. They will only have you hand in a ticket you're given when you're asked for your passport and another ID. Now this is the hard part.

You'll wait for like an hour watching people come and go, some of them with serious issues to fix with the embassy (I saw a guy who had been working on his visa for 2.5 years, and it didn't seem pretty), but don't let that get you nervous. Some guy kept telling me I was gonna get called for an interview, and sure enough I was called into one of the interview rooms, but it was just to give me a HUGE envelope with the letter for CBSA, my stamped passport, and other documents they don't need anymore (like pictures of our wedding and honeymoon). After that you just check that all of your information is correct, and if it's not you go to the window again, otherwise you're free to walk away with a brand new, BEAUTIFUL (it's very well designed) one time visa.

I am so happy

I am set to arrive in Vancouver by march 11 midnight, or 12 in the very early morning.

Today is my lucky day . My wifes application on ecas has a descion beside it and she will be notified .
I think and pray as she already received all our pictures and papers that this descion is positive .

We had to wait for police clearances from where she worked . They received this on Feb. 4/2011.

Now just pray for her to tell me the good news .

Hopefully this day is the start for good news for all .

My hubby got his PR Card last Feb 22. It took 40 days since landing.

Congrats and thank u for the well written post! made me smile gives me more hope! on the CIC website it says 15 months for mexico applicants!! for colombo it's 16 months right now.. lucky u got it in like 5 months! have a safe safe trip and let us know how things go!

My representative have received last week a request for further documents (basically PCCs)...!
We have already sent them 1 month ago, and it's most likely that they should be about to receive them...!

they didn't request for further proof of relationship, so I assume that they are satisfied with the proof that we already sent... right ??

and also, I am thinking that if they wanted to request an interview, they would ask me to bring the documents along, instead of asking them by mail... does that make sense or am I thinking too much ahead ?

Hope it all goes fast from here on...!!!

Dadu, usually documents are requested to assess if they're gonna need the interview or not, so you can't do the two-fer.

Or who knows, Mexico city doesn't do that, but they also make us travel from all over the country to Mexico city to get the police records ...
