Bonbon I have an update I checked Ecas today and I'm in process now I don't know if it is good or bad but they started processing on Jan 5 2011 and I was so excited because they requested the Carta de Antecedentes Registrales I thought I was at the end. They received my application on October 06 2010 3 months after they started proccesing??? mmm I don't know what to think I was making plans already for next month!! How is your case going?

It is totally weird! jendrian's application started processing like a month before mine, and mine a couple of weeks before yours!
We'll see how it goes.. We're all waiting at this point for either an interview or PPR.

bonbon, you should register to trackitt.com, we still have about 30-50 days to go according to statistics

Bon Bon can you update with my expected date of 03/2011. Thanks

Hey Bonbon can you please update my passport request to February 14th? Expected arrival March 2011

YIPPEE!

I'm so jealous of everyone getting their visa and going asap. My man's visa came at the start of December and we're still here because we agreed to stay for a wedding at Easter! I'm gutted. Only 13 (really really long) weeks to go!!!

Congrats everyone, it's so exciting to see all the successful landings. I hope Canada brings everything you dream of xxx

And I'm expecting to land in Toronto next Friday February 4th....as long as all goes well when I go to the Canadian High Commission in London to pick up my passport on Thursday February 3rd! Fingers crossed!

Hello Suze_h,

So you picked up your passort on the 3rd of February. When did you give your passport to CHC London?
I am planning to do the same as you if they don`t extend my visitor status as I am in Toronto now. My stamp will expire soon, so hopefully before that I will know if I get the visitor extension or not. If I get it I will post my passport if I don`t get it I will fly to London and drop then pick up the passport. So it will be a very expensive plane ticket. Still not sure I will post it or not as the timing is not the best in my case. I will se how they update the processing time for the extension tomorrow.

Hi juljud!

I dropped off my passport on Thurs 20th January and picked it up exactly two weeks later on Thurs February 3rd. If you drop it off in person at the Canadian High Commission it is a guaranteed 2 week service. To be honest if I hadn't already had a flight booked back to the UK on 19th January I probably wouldn't have paid for a flight home to take it in person, it just fit in really well with my plans and meant that I got things sorted a lot more quickly and didn't have to worry about my passport getting lost in the post or anything!

Good luck with getting everything sorted out!

Thank you Suze for your quick answer. It`s good to know the 2 week service is guaranteed as I might have to leave the UK after I drop it. So I can even book the return ticket in case before I leave my passport in London. It`s good to know. Thanks. So while they keep my passport I will use my ID as I will travel within the EU during that time. It was so so quick for you and the timing was just perfect. We cancelled my flight because transat gave me back 80 % of the price of the ticket if we cancel it in time. We didn`t expect the PPR will be so quick. Tomorrow the online extension processing time willl be updated on cic website. Hopefully I will be able to calculate better when I should know the result of the extension.
The landing was ok? Did you land at Pearson?
Was it quick?
What did they take with you? Bank statements, passport with the visa , your address in Canada where they post the PR card and your sponsor`s phone number. Am I right or missing something?

I risked it and booked my flight back from Gatwick to Toronto on the morning of Friday 4th Feb, praying that they would have everything correct on my Confirmation of Permanent Residence form which luckily they did! My understanding is that if any name spellings or anything are incorrect then you have to return it to them for correction, which would mean that you obviously wouldn't be able to fly straight off...I think for most people there are no problems though so you should be fine!

My landing at Toronto Pearson was very smooth. My conversation with the Immigration Officer lasted no more than about 3 minutes. The only thing they asked me for was my passport and Confirmation of Permanent Residence form. He asked me how many Canadian dollars I had with me at the time (I only had about $20) but didn't need to see any bank statements or anything like that. He asked me for my address in Canada and my Canadian cell number. I should point out that I have been in Canada for almost 18 months already, as a visitor and on a work permit so I am already established in Canada in a lot of ways and I wasn't bringing anything over from the UK with me apart from the clothes that I'd taken for my 2 week visit. If you are bringing household possessions with you or are shipping things later then you need to complete a 'goods accompanying' and 'goods to follow' list. He told me where I needed to go to get my SIN and that was that! All very easy, and he said I would be getting my PR card in around 6 weeks time.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Suze it helps a lot. Awsome. Well Mississauga messed up my name instead of `u ` they typed `i` because the 1 letters are close to each other on the keybord:)
But if they mispell something on the visa I have to wait another week right, as they work just on Thursdays or hopefully they can sort it out immediately. Even if they correct it I might miss my plane.
It`s awsome everything went pretty fast for you at the airport. I came here 6 months ago to visit him so I couldn`t work here. Just in case I take the bank statements with me and take my Canadian phone number with me. I won`t bring anything oover from Europe just my clothes for the 2 weeks while I will be there. My partner`s company paid a good part of the postal costs after we came here.

6 weeks to get the PR card I think a friend got it in 4 weeks last year but maybe they weren`t so busy at that time.
Anyway it`s just a card, I guess the confirmation of PR is enough to get the SIN and open a bank account here.

Enjoy your first time as a PR !

Hi suze_h and thanks for this info. Would you have a link or do you know where I can find the information that there is a guaranteed 2 week service? Did they just tell you that when you handed them your passport at the Canadian High Commission? The reason I'm asking is that my hubby and I are trying to figure out an approx. timeline to help with organising flights. Also, not to be too much of a pain, how did you go about handing in your passport and picking it up? Cheers!
