A bit controversial but starting this thread for people who have Canadian Citizenship now ( or close to it ) and are planning to return /move to USA on H1B Visa. Issues that we may need to discuss will be Car Imports, RRSP/TFSA, Taxation, Passpport and Oath Formalities. It may need a new , similar to H1B holders in Canada etc.

How close are you to the move?

Have you found a genuine sponsor for H1B and not the body shops? Looking for some recommendations. Thanks

Are you already on H1B? I may try for L1 sponsorship from a US-based company.

Yes I have been working on H1B in USA after moving to Canada mostly remote with a once in a month visit to my office in USA.

I had a full-time employment on H1B with a genuine employer in USA before moving to Canada. After moving to Canada I maintained my H1B and got it extended with occasional travel to my work location.

Hi,
Can someone recommend me how to find electrical engineer job in Houston, Texas, USA? I am a Canadian citizen and P.Eng in BC, Canada and PE in Texas, USA and working experience around 17 years.

I tried to find a job at Texas area from LinkedIn or indeed, but none of the employer call me for interview. I think all of my experience are from Canada and Singapore.
Can someone let me know how to find electrical engineering job in Texas, Canada? Thanks in advance.

Engineering market is really very tough in Texas considering that you will need a visa to work. Can you get into IT related field? They have tons of job, but unfortunately not much of core engineering jobs.

Does your employer have office in Canada?

You will pay tax on interest, dividends, capital gains AND deemed disposition (unrealized gains).

Do you know how deemed disposition works ? Also, If I bought some stocks before moving to Canada and have not sold them yet - do I still need to pay deemed disposition on them ?

Like this Tread. I am in same situation I have completed My Canadian Citizenship Test in March 2022.

I left US in 2017 and also abandoned My last H1B as it was Cap exempt for Non-Profit Organization ( They did not allowed work from Canada ) I never had a Cap H1B.

Now My current employer is ready to do L1B visa for me and they will initiate GC process when I land in the US. My PD is EB-3 04/2014.

L1B is hard to get and have limit of 5 years. Employer will also initiate H1B in 2023 also for lottery.

Anyone recently moved to US on L1B visa?

Just to add I also own house in GTA which is Primary residence for me.

I am not sure ( please confirm with an immigration lawyer) but you can only be picked up in the lottery once in life. Once you have H1b, you can leave the country and after 3 years the clock resets. It may be different for you as you worked with a Non Profit and never had to go through h1B lottery.
