Hey Friend I understand your irritation the immigration process gives a lot of stress.
Is better to think that your process will take an average time like 1 year probably instead to expect it to go throughout very fast. They said 18 months but they are considering all type of obstacles they could find in the PR process, but if you wife has not criminal recors and everything is in order then I am pretty sure will take shorter.
They use to send email sometimes to inform about the AOR, to my husband they sent and email and also traditional mail and said that they received the PR aplication and they will contact him within 4 months, and then after 3 months the VO Guatemala called him for an interview and at the same time, CIC here in Canada requested to pay the Righ of PR to me. our whole process took around 6 months but with tons of proofs of our relationship.
just make sure they have the correct address and your wife also could send a fax confirming the mailing address.
If you sent all the documents they asked You will be fine.

good look.

please can anyone tell us once you submit the passport how many months they kept your passport and when they return your passport with visa? any average time? please

You said that you put in tons of proofs of relationship. They requested photos of the wedding ceremony and that was all. We did not have any pictures of that since it was done by a notary just the reception. I am making up a pack of pictures of us. We live together so I have also added everything that I can think of that has both our names on (insurance, cell phone records, titles of cars, mail to him at our address, mail from IRS). Do you think this will be ok?

You deserve to get PR soon. That is crazy that they keep the passport for so long. It would be difficult if you had to travel. They just asked for ours and would love to think that it meant that we were almost there but I know this office is a long wait compared to others. So I guess we just have to know that it will be at least another year and be resigned to waiting.
The worse part is that you could not even complain since they are within their 18month window.

I hope you get good news back. That is the problem with them listing 18 months. You cannot even contact your MP until that time has past. I seem to remember another member from Guatemala that seemed to go through faster. Though they did not have any children or other circumstances.
Good Luck!!!

actually we contacted my mp at 12 or 13 months the first time and she helped us, so if it gets to be too long you can always just try

I need a little help. I am getting ready to send more information and my husband's passport. Do I send it to: 13 Calle 8-44 Zone 10, Edificio Edyma Plaza, Guatemala City, Guatemala

Also, do you recommend DHL? Thanks

hey javiernica,

just curious what it said in your passport request letter? My wife received her AOR letter in Costa Rica on Feb.01. so according to your timeline I would predict she gets her ppr in may right? in the AOR letter it stated : your file has been placed in a queue awaiting assessment . you will receive the results of this assessment along with additional information and instructions within the next four months. so that next information if everything is good would be her passport request right? I certainly hope so, I am tired of all of this, I havn't seen my wife in almost 9 months, Im going to see her in may though, but I just wish this process was quicker :(. thanks!

that is exactly what our AOR said. Our new thing was a two page list with things checked off. We have to send passport, his daughters' original birth certificate, proof of payment for our PR fee, additional proof (pictures of wedding ceremony), and clarification of his relationship with mother of his daughters.
Other offices seem to go very fast after this but Guatemala seems to take forever after they get the passport. So I was really excited when I got the request for passport but now I'm rethinking and realizing it may be another year. I hope that yours will go really quick. I know there was someone on here that once they asked for the passport they were processed within a few months. Hope that happens to both of us!

hello,
Its really frustrated we sent our passports 9 December 2010 and no new till today, our file is FSW skill worker, but I dont know why take so long to hold our passports, and our medicals expire this month so I think we have to go again under go new medical its time and money both waist, but we have to wait for medical request.. Anyone has idea they start the procedure after the passport request, because our ecas shown INPROCESS june 2009, and we file our first application in June 2008, its been almost three years soon.
