Your visa is valid for 12 months from the date of your medical.

We would have left earlier, but my fiancé's sister got married at the end of April and we had agreed to our boys being ring bearers....if we'd known at the time that it would all happen so quickly we wouldn't have agreed to it!!! Staying for those extra months was hideous - I am a very impatient person!!

It all worked out ok in the end though, we got here 2 weeks after the snow had finally gone!!

I would have gone crazy waiting extra months like that! I'm already packing our stuff here so we are ready to go as soon as I get the Visa. 8)

I have some questions for those of you who moved to Canada with children:

How/where did you register that your child now resides in Canada? (My child is a Canadian citizen but has never lived there before.)

Where did/do your children get Canadian immunizations, and did their foreign ones count as valid or did they have to take everything again? (My child has followed the Swedish vaccination programme since birth.)

What did you do to meet other kids and make new friends?

At what age did your child go to the dentist in Canada for the first time, and is that paid by the health insurance or not?

And now a question to all of you:

Which private health insurance did you buy for the first 3 months in Canada? If I have got it right the national/provincial health insurance doesn't cover your first 3 months in Ca.

Thanks

Have you tried logging in using the sponsors details? ANd you can also use the receipt number from when you paid the fees.
Try that?

Guys I need some advise!!! Im going out of my mind now with the wait for my hubbys VISA to come through!!! The thing is, we have moved house to aid in our saving for the big move so we are back living with Lukes parents, for the last two months I have been trying to update my address, I have used the web and also have sent a letter but it still hasnt changes on the online progression thing! BUT...and there is a but.....its not only that, that im worried about now, all of a sudden where there was just one line that said Sponsorship - Decision made (which was a yes) and then Perminant residence application has said 'in Progress' for about 5 or 6 weeks now, but they have now added in another line that says my sponsorship application is 'in progress'??????? but ive already been advised that its ok, do you think they are looking at it again at the London office????? I cant cope its so hard that there is nobody to talk to about it, and the change of address is really worrying me too!!! Someone give me some comforting thoughts!! Hahaha!

I totally understand your worry. They spelled my name wrong and I have sent an email but they haven't corrected the spelling or replied to my email. Perhaps I should send them a letter in the mail as well...
If I were you I'd tell the people now living in your old place that they should call you if any mail to you is delivered to that address.

Yea we have done that with the people living at our old address!! If you send a letter they say to put your file number on the envelope as well as on the actual letter so that it gets to the right place! Good Luck the wait is just a killer!!

I didn't. I asked Service Canada and they said I didn't need to do anything. I thought it was weird, but my sister didn't notify anyone either when she moved with her boys. I have had a nightmare trying to get the UK gov. to stop child allowance & tax credit payments though!!
Where did/do your children get Canadian immunizations, and did their foreign ones count as valid or did they have to take everything again? (My child has followed the Swedish vaccination programme since birth.)
We have registered with our local GP and he has told us to contact the local hospital when their next jabs are due. I gave them copies of our records from our UK GP so they know what jabs they have already had
What did you do to meet other kids and make new friends?
Our town has a 'welcome wagon' that comes to visit new residents with vouchers for stores etc and info about local groups. I didn't opt for that but have met people at local parks, talked to neighbours and there are lots of kids clubs at our local sports centre that we might sign up for
At what age did your child go to the dentist in Canada for the first time, and is that paid by the health insurance or not?
We haven't been yet, but as far as I know it isn't covered by provincial insurance. My fiancé's company plan covers ours

I moved to Alberta so didn't need this so can't help I'm afraid!

Thanks

I have tried with application number, client ID number, and reciept number and none is working. What do you recomand me to do? Should i contact the CIC-M or London office.? I called London office yesterday and the phone is automated. I kinda find this wierd though.

And you tried with sponsors details?

Yes i did it. I tried all that i had said with sponsors details and mine too. What do you think i will do about it?

Thanks

Hmmmm I don't know what to suggest really other than call the call centre.
Are you in Canada now? If so you can try this number 1-888-242‑2100 ..... you need to be patient but you will be able to speak to an agent eventually, just keep pressing 0

I couldn't log in for ages, then I signed up with the e-cas tracker and it tried different combinations.

I had been trying to log in with my country of birth as United Kingdom. It didn't work until the ecas tracker tried 'England' instead.
