Not been on here for a while, but thought I'd check in with an update. After one failed attempt (because I wasn't there) My husband has successfully landed (30/05/16). He was told 6 to 8 weeks for PR card.

My wife's parents received her COPR in the post this morning in England.
This arrived rather quickly considering that we only saw "Decision Made" on ECAS last Tuesday.

Since we're due to travel there on June 27th, she will "land" when we fly back to Toronto on July 14.
Will keep you updated.

Landing_PR - updated!

PeterJ - updated, congrats, glad it was sorted quickly! Landing in July is fine as long as your COPR is valid! :) BE sure to read the landing wiki article on BritishExpats (same site as the FAQ), it's got a ton of useful info for preparing for your landing. :) Good luck!

Hi all,

I got my sponsorship approval email last week and then this morning my partner got an email requesting an IMM5409 (Declaration of Commmon-Law Union form). I'm confused because this form is only intended when the common-law partner is the co-signer on the application and in our case I am a Canadian sponsoring my common-law partner (British).

However - I do see on the forums that some others have also been asked for this even though it is not supposed to be required. But I'm wondering how people have replied? Do you send one or send an email explaining why you never sent one in the first place? This form has to be notarized which is a bit of a pain but a small thing in the scheme of things but my real concern is that the message says both 'with original signatures' and also 'send by email'.... not sure how to do both. Below is the exact wording from the message we received. Any advice would be appreciated.

"Stat Dec of Common-Law IMM5409: A signed and completed Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union form (IMM 5409) bearing original signatures.

You must send us the requested information by email within 30 days from the date of this letter."

Thanks,
Andrea

Hi everyone!

Congrats to everyone who got SA, DM and COPR lately! Now if only London sped up a little and got inspired by Ottawa... ;D

I was wondering if anyone from the UK has applied for CSQ (Certificat de sélection du Québec). MIDI received my CSQ application on April 26th but no news since then. We have a CSQ column in the february spreadsheet and most people got the reply within 30-35 days (all from different countries). It's already been 6 weeks for me. The timeframe shown on the MIDI website indicates between 4 and 13 months, but it clearly isn't up to date, so I was wondering if anyone from the UK forum had been through this.

Also, do you guys know if the main PR application is put on hold while they're working on the CSQ application? (I hope not!) ;)

It's usually not required, as you say it's supposed to be just for co-signers, but occasionally people have been asked. By original signatures they mean that both of you have to sign it yourselves, you can't have someone sign on your behalf, but you should be able to scan and send it by email. You don't have to explain why you didn't include it in the first place. Just get it signed and notarized and scan and send. If you're in the UK they shouldn't charge you more than a fiver. If I'm not mistaken, any lawyer can do it.

Charno - not sure on your CSQ question as I don't know much about CSQ... but I would probably try to get in touch with someone there to chase up.

Thanks SchnookoLoly - off to the notary right now. We are in Canada so it will cost more than a fiver but as long as they accept it by email that's fine by me.

Crayon - updated! Let us know which office has your app.

EFL may just be the initials of the person who processed that part of the application, but I'm not certain.
