Hmmmm alright then, i'll let him know. I suppose we'll see what happens if the UK tax office sends him something to pay his advance taxes for the year! He can tell them at that time that he is no longer a resident. IF it even happens. Thanks SchnookoLoly & taffy7!
There is a form to fill out for HMRC when leaving the UK. https://www.gov.uk/tax-right-retire-abroad-return-to-uk

Okay, after a few hours of Andrew and I bashing our heads against the spreadsheet, we finally have a funky new chart working on the cover page.

We have added a chart that shows details of the past 20 decisions split by office and includes the average processing time for those past 20 decisions. This should give a decent idea of more recent processing times instead of just year-by-year averages.

It's worth noting that the average for London is at 9.6 months, so a bit longer than the 7-8 months we have been quoting more recently.

Enjoy the enhanced nerdiness!

It might be worth adding to the spreadsheet that we had an information request in January that we just found out about - no doubt why we have been In Process for so long!

What form/info was requested and did you receive the request today?

We found out from our notes that we received last week - a letter was sent on Jan 27th requesting more information on my husband's non-accompanying dependant's police check which has a minor reprimand on it.

We have now emailed CIC saying we never received this letter and given them all the info we can. Fingers crossed things move now.

What address is specified on the letter, and does the letter request original or passport copy? It should be explicit ibn the request.

In email saying mail your package to Canadian High Commission - no address?

it doesnt say anywhere in email original passport or photocopy but i read this somewhere at bottom You should expect to be without your passport(s) for four weeks, so do not arrange any travel that will require your passport(s) during this period.

Your application has reached the final stage of processing. So that your permanent resident visa(s) can be issued, you must now submit the documents listed below. (Note that family members who are entitled to Canadian citizenship must travel on their Canadian passports.)

Two recent photographs of yourself and two recent photographs of each of your accompanying family members. The photos must meet the Photo Specifications as detailed in Appendix A.

The “Updated Information Chart” in Appendix B, fully completed for you and each accompanying family member.

Please follow the instructions below regarding your passport requirements as applicable:

A) If you are a citizen of a country that is required to obtain a visa to visit Canada, please follow the instructions below regarding your passport requirements:

· Submit your original passport and the original passport(s) of your accompanying spouse and dependent children to the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in London. The passports must meet the Passport Specifications as detailed below.

B) If you are a citizen of a country that is exempt from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, please follow the instructions below regarding your passport requirements (To find out if you are visa-exempt under Regulation 190, consult: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp#exemptions):

· Send a photocopy of the photo and personal information pages of your passport and of the passport(s) of your accompanying spouse and dependent children to our office in London.

Submit the documents within 30 days of the date of this correspondence according to the instructions in Appendix C. Please also include a copy of this correspondence with your submission. All documents for you and your accompanying family members must be submitted together in one package.

What You Need To Know

1. Change in Family Composition or Mailing Address

You must notify CPC-Ottawa in writing if there are or will be changes in your life circumstances before using your visas, such as:

· Family status (e.g. marriage or common-law union, divorce, annulment, legal separation, birth, adoption, death of the sponsor, principal applicant or any accompanying family member, including grandchildren born to dependent children); or

· You or any of your family members being charged or convicted of a criminal offence; or

· Changes to mailing address/e-mail address/contact information.

Failure to inform CIC of any of these changes may delay processing, may result in the cancellation of your immigrant visas and may render you and your family members inadmissible to Canada. Failure to inform CIC of dependent family members during your application processing will permanently exclude them from later sponsorship in the Family Class.

2. Visa Validity

The issuance of your Confirmation of Permanent Resident document(s) is time sensitive so it is important for you to submit your passport(s) when requested.

Once you receive your Confirmation of Permanent Resident document(s), please check the information on it to make sure it is correct. If there are any errors, such as incorrect spelling of name or incorrect date of birth, please inform CPC-Ottawa immediately. Your name will appear in the same format as it appears in your passport.

Your permanent resident visa will expire one year after the date of your medical examinations. If your passport or the passports of your spouse or dependent children (if applicable) expire on an earlier date, the visa will expire on the earlier date.

You must travel to Canada and present your immigration documents at a Canadian Port of Entry before they expire. The validity of the Confirmation of Permanent Resident documents cannot be extended. If you fail to enter Canada before this date and still wish to immigrate to Canada, you must reapply by submitting a new application and paying new processing fees. All such applications will be assessed according to the immigration laws in force at the time of receipt of the application. There is no guarantee a future application would be successful.

3. Passport Specifications

If any of the passports submitted do not meet the following specifications, all passports will be returned to you without visas. This delay will shorten the amount of time that you will have to travel to Canada to become a permanent resident.

All names and dates of birth must be printed in each passport in English or French.
The given name (first name) of the passport-holder must be clearly printed on the Given Name line of the bio-data page of each passport. The surname (last name) of the passport-holder must be clearly printed on the Surname line of the bio-data page of each passport. They should match your Updated Information Chart.
Your spouse must have their own passport. Your accompanying children should also each have their own passports.
Each passport must have at least two empty pages.
For your visas to have maximum validity, all passports should be valid for at least 12 months from the date of your medical examinations.
All passports must be intact and not worn, torn or otherwise damaged; the laminate on the bio-data page must be securely attached. Each page must be securely affixed to the passport; there cannot be any loose pages. Ordinary passports are the only type of passport into which a permanent resident visa may be inserted. Diplomatic, official, special or other similar types of passports are NOT acceptable.

No reminder letter will be sent. You are requested to immediately act upon the instructions set out in this correspondence.

Sincerely,

Immigration Section
