Hi There

I got decision made does is this a good thing, I did get requested by the VO to submit some extra info on the IM5669 which I did in July and to renew my Police Certificate (request came Oct 2nd) which I did also. The application as been in since Jan 28th 2013 dare I believe that we are near the journeys end?

cheers

Yes it most certainly is! Any further uncertainty on CIC's part would have involved a request for more proof or further info so time to celebrate! Last hurdle is for the the COPR to arrive in the post.

If you post your full timeline, I can add you to the spreadsheet if you like?

Congrats :)

Hi,
I hope I've found the right place to post my questions. We're just looking for some help on the best way to proceed to get us both to Canada in the quickest, cheapest, legal way.

I'm Canadian, my husband is British and we live in NZ (no kids). I now also have NZ citizenship and my husband has had his NZ citizenship approved, but is just waiting for his ceremony to get his certificate and passport. In looking at the quick time-frames from London, I'm thinking we should submit our PR application through London ASAP. He is also eligible for a IEC (working holiday) visa through NZ (when he gets his passport). The NZ IEC quota has not yet been reached for this year.

I'm hoping to get a job soon and then move over. I don't have a job in NZ, and my prospects look a lot better in Canada. He will likely come after me, but potentially before his PR or IEC, so just as a visitor (maybe with a open ticket to London in case we have to go for an interview). I'd like to be making some money before he comes over so we can afford to have him not working while he waits for his PR.

Do you think we should submit his PR application outland through London now? I'm just worried about permanent/temporary intent. To be honest, our intent is to go to Canada, but keep our house and citizenship in NZ so that we can come back. We may stay in Canada permanently, but I suspect we'll be back in NZ at some point (if we get sick of the snow).

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I think IEC would be the quickest way to start with, and provided he can prove the habitual residency requirement for New Zealand, there shouldn't be a problem. He could also work for anyone for a year with that which gives you time to figure stuff out and possibly send another application for the lengthier work permit or PR applications.

If you are not sure whether you want to stay then once he is established with a company they could apply for a Labour Market Opinion and get him the work permit that would give you another two years (if it's the same length as mine was). LMOs are given based on the need for that person's skills though and the company has to prove they have advertised for three months to Canadians first. This is the reason I suggest the IEC first and then other stuff next...after all, you said quick and legal, not to mention the freedom it gives him to work for anyone.

He'd have to wait for NZ citizenship though I believe because otherwise he'd have to go off British and I expect he has not been in Britain for a while and could therefore not prove habitual residency requirement of the IEC process.

Personally, I came and stayed for 9 months (first 6 on visitor and second 3 on extended visitor visa) before I got offered a job and the LMO cleared etc. I had to work for this company for over a year while the PR app went through. Stressful way of doing it. 9 months without money was tough.

Take care.

Cheers Nocsy and congrats to you :) Hope you docs are not too long in coming, I sent an email to CIC yesterday asking for some more info...... just awaiting a reply from CIC or the docs in the post whichever comes first.... then the celebrations can really start!! :)
