Hello,

I swear this is the lest time I post about this. We are leaving tomorrow for the states (by car) as my partner's IEC expires on Sunday. Can we apply for an extension online and will that cover him for returning into Canada?

Or is is best to just but a cheap one way flight and just write off the costs?

I was hoping to cross the border with proof of application and funds, but from reading more on this site (maybe I am just paranoid), I feel like that is really risky.

He has no real ties to the UK....help??

Hi there,

When my last IEC ended I drove to the border with my husband and proceeded to explain to the border control agency that we are married and have a PR application pending. He verified this on his screen and issued a one year tourist visa.

This of course after flagpoling at the USA border.

Good luck!

I am just nervous he will get rejected and somehow a bad mark on his immigration record.... I am probably just being paranoid. Surely Funds and application proof will be enough.

Thanks davidmarsdan38! You have definitely calmed my nerves. I was just about ready to book a flight back to Scotland for no reason.

I too was so very paranoid about the process as when I spoke to CIC they said it was up to the border official.

Now if you can prove to the border guard that you are in a committed relationship, have some proof of finances and show that you have an application together for your PR, then you will have no problem. That is why I was granted a year long tourist visa so that I wouldn't have to go through that ordeal again.

You will be fine. Deep breathing.....

:)

Hey there nthompson, what date did your application go to "in process" if I may ask?

:)

It went In-Process on the 16th July and 5 days later they asked me to do another ACRO police check which I had to do just before we flew to Jamaica for our wedding ceremony which had us in a panic. I would say don't watch the status because mine still says In-Process lol....

quick question :if cic asked for updated Accro police check does that mean they are working on the application and is there any possibility of application been approved soon ,been in process since may 2013 and they asked for additional information which I sent ,they said they never received sent 10 mail with proof of signature no answer from cic until i resent all the requested information again and now they said Accro police check is expired has to send them another one ......Any comments ????thanks peep :(

Hi all,
I've been following the progress of everyone's application news (yay! - for those of you who've been approved). I am still waiting for any news, and thought I'd give my details to add to the spreadsheet if possible.

Common Law Application
Received : December 18, 2012
Sponsor approved : January 16, 2013
Started Processing : May 13, 2013

Additional Information Requested to clarify Personal History June 3, 2013. Information submitted by email June 9, but not received (for who knows what reason) as info was requested again June 24, 2013. Info submitted again June 24, and confirmation of receipt on June 28.

And nothing since then!!
Which I'm am convincing myself, possibly naively, is OK. No news is better than a million requests for details. At least that's what people here seem to be saying to reassure! So I will reassure my partner saying the same thing.... For a little while longer anyway. I'm afraid worry and pessimism are creeping close around the corner for me if we don't hear anything by mid-October anyway.

My heart goes out to the others waiting with me (and from before me).

Cheers :)

My package is all together and I will be taking it to Fed Ex tomorrow morning.

Could I get added to the spreadsheet or I wait until they confirmed receipt?

So nervous I messed something up or forgot something.

How do they notify me of receipt?

If you provided an Email address on your application form, then they will send it there. If not, it will go to the mailing address you provided.

Thank you! It's mailed they will receive it tomorrow by noon. So nervous and excited all at same time

An email I received from CIC this morning:

Good afternoon,

We have issued a request to our medical colleagues to extend the result of your examination but are unaware as to how long it will take for them to action our request. We will issue your CoPR as soon as this process has been completed. The process of extending your medical validity and issuing/ mailing your CoPR should be completed before the end of September if our medical staff extend your result without any further requirements.

Kind regards,
ACD

Here is hoping their words ring true and I have my CoPR in October!

:)

Can you please add me to the spreadsheet

Office London
Medical done Sept 9/13
Application mailed Sept 16/13

This is most definitely a positive step and you will no doubt receive your CoPR very soon. Enjoy the celebrations and good luck with the landing! :)
