I completely agree. I am now up to 10/11 weeks since my "in process" and I am going slowly insane.

I think as of tomorrow, I will check once when I wake up and then go cold turkey for the rest of the day - or else I fear for my mental health :/

My husband landed today! It was a pretty painless process. The border guards weren't quite as warm and friendly for us as they are for some people (going by the posts on here), but hey, they didn't give us any grief either. Said congratulations and that was that!

Congratulations! I'm glad everything went smoothly. I'm a bit worried about the landing process. I find they are really hard on me. They are abrupt and treat me with suspicion. I'm a Canadian citizen, yet they are perfectly friendly to my British husband. I've always put it down to them thinking I'm a traitor because I don't currently live in Canada. I just want the landing process to be as painless as possible. Best of luck now that you have completed this hurdle.

A guy on another forum suggested asking them for a comment card if you find them being a bit off. Apparently they perk up instantly

I had my application transferred to London office since January 31st 2013. I have been communicating with the office back and front; and they always update me about the processing. My ecas never change to "in process". Recently, they mailed me that an interview is required and they will contact me for the date and time soon.

I will like to ask if anyone is aware of the format in which the interview takes? Any tips or advise will help please?

I will be travelling to London to see my husband, I pray we return back to Canada together.

I think that a lot of people on here would like to know how you are able to get the London office to respond to your communications. For most, London just ignores them...

That's strange, isn't it. My wife and I have noticed the odd time (mostly at Pearson airport) that they seem to be annoyed she is not a Canadian resident... now she just uses her UK passport. In Halifax, Vancounver and Calgary, though, there has never been any attitude.

When my wife first came to Scotland, she had a working holiday visa for the UK. When she came back to NS for christmas, the CBSA officer insisted on stamping her Canadian Passport at entry because she was a "non-resident". Weird attitude (this was in NL). We used to get searched all the time coming back in too!

For the past few years for her though, it's mainly just been a "welcome home!" from the officers.

I've had a email before from the embassy asking for my medical to be renewed as it expired. So I got it done again which cost me another £300 and sent them a email to get a update. I just got this as a reply but the way I'm feeling is that I could be waiting forever

Me and my wife have been living together for 3 years in the UK we travel to Canada at least 4 times a year for a maximum of 6 weeks as were both teachers. Our application is pretty straight forward besides my minor offence which was 12 years ago when I was 18 which I got fined for $500. Anyone else in a similar position to me or know any one who has experienced this with having a minor record from years ago and got approved?

We have photo's of our wedding which was a destination one in Jamaica with over 160 people and surely why would so many people fly that if the relationship was not genuine. Sorry if I sound like I'm ranting but me and my wife both want to be in Canada with her parents and start our own family there.

Oh it was really very easy and nothing to be worried about at all. They didn't even ask a lot of questions. All we had to show them was our passports and the COPR. You get an official rejection from the US border agents, to show that you did in fact leave Canada, then come back and give the Canadian agents the form showing your rejection and your COPR. Just make sure the agent stamps and signs your passport again, otherwise it'll cause problems when getting a SIN.

Most of the agents were civil enough, it was just one who was a bit surly with us for some reason. I even smiled at him as we were leaving and he glared at me. It could be anything - maybe 'cause it was early morning and he hadn't had a cup of coffee yet, maybe 'cause he took his border agent training ("be as surly as possible!") a little too seriously, maybe 'cause he doesn't like same-sex couples, maybe 'cause he's so close to North Dakota. Don't know, don't care - we're done!

hello everyone

so guess what?
the last update i got was that my husbands application " we started processing your application on Apr 19th, 2013". Apparently they sent a letter that day too about landing fees or something but they sent it to his old address in London and now hes in Pakistan (which we updated months ago). They only sent the letter to him even though we are supposed to get all correspondence going to our lawyer as well.....So then my lawyer followed up just like that and they responded saying they sent a letter to my husband in April then again in July, which obviously he never got. So can you believe 3 months just got wasted for nothing!!!! so anyways now my lawyer is following up and saying that we never got a letter so they should resend it
but does anyone have an idea how does it take from now if his passport goes to Islamabad,Pakistan for visa processing and all?
basically whats the timeframe and next steps after the landing fees??

Hey there,

London has answered every one of my questions I ask them - Instead of submitting another case enquiry form, I hit the reply button on my email and usually get a response from anything from 1-10 days. Never had a problem - except the ambiguity of their answers! Grrrr....

Hi.

Because you guys applied through London, he will get his passport stamped in London, not Islamabad. So he will need to either travel to the UK himself or send his passport there when it is requested. Can't really help you with the timeframe, I'm not too familiar with non-visa exempt.
