Yup. Same thing has been happening to others for the past few days. It means one of two things. Either, their mailbox is full or they've shut off Email enquiries. What a bloody nightmare.

Unacceptable.

Indeed. Especially for folk that need to actually update information, not just hassle CIC!

Post-Script to this note though, I just tried to contact them again and it went through.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I have been silent but I have been creeping you all and congrats to everyone who got their approval.

I've been really worried about our application as I've still not heard anything for my stage 2. So I sent them a email and got this reply

"Thank you for your recent e-mail.

Please be advised that your file is currently awaiting review by an Immigration Officer, however your file is now near the front of this queue and you can expect to hear from us shortly.

Yours sincerely,"

Please tell me they will look at my application sometime soon or I will have to wait a few months?

By my calculation, this has been in the London queue now for 8 months. It's impossible to say how long it will take extra AFTER they start to look at it, for background checks etc. However, it's certainly indicating that the queue length in London is getting longer. The big problem is that with the PAFSO strike action, it can only get longer still.

I was hoping to be completed by the end of this year but it doesn't look like this is even remotely likely to happen now.

Thanks for the tip. I will try again now. Hopefully we all get good news soon.

Hey! Welcome.

Unfortunately, it would be anyone's guess how long it will take you. And that's under normal circumstances. Everything is a wild-card now that the strike is in action.

I guess this puts paid to the idea that applications are processed in the order that they're received since some December and January applications are already done and dusted.

So, for a guesstimate on the time, i would expect another 2 months at least i'm afraid. 10 months seems to be about what we're at now...

9pm tonight on Pick TV: Border Security Canada

Hopefully there's no new COPRs getting any grief!

See, this is what really confuses me. You and I had our applications received on exactly the same day in Mississauga (November 14th) and we both got sponsor approval on the same day as well (November 23rd). Whether they go through files in order of initial application date or sponsor approval date, it shouldn't matter - they'd get to us at the same time, and they'd be dealing with our files before people who applied (or got sponsor approval) in December or January. But instead, my file is apparently "still under review" - even though it's languishing at "Application Received" on ECAS - while someone who applied to Mississauga in January just got Decision Made. Meanwhile yours is apparently in a queue. It's a complete mystery to me.

I've seen the whole of season one. It's based in BC if I remember correctly. Not too bad viewing.

Yeah, most of it is at the airport in Vancouver but they do some stuff at some the US border posts and in mail centres too. Pretty entertaining viewing.

Ooh question guys:

Hubby's UK police certificates will be expiring in August. With this strike we don't have a lot of hope of actually getting COPR before then. Does the VO just auto-extend them or do they notify you about what you need to do next?

Thanks!

Hey Katey,

Unlike medicals, Police Certificates don't expire, provided that they are still valid on the date that they are received. not to worry!

gud news that chc is not on strike

I start working tomorrow. Part time in Home Depot, so it isn't much really, but it's certainly better than nothing. Hopefully things will fall into place in the coming months...

It looks like London's come to a standstill, not seeing many DMs recently. Are they actually on strike for real there? I'm not aware of the finer details behind the dispute, but it really is sad that the ultimate casualty in all of this is the families left in the lurch waiting to be reunited...

From an outsider's viewpoint, I think you've made the right decision booking a ticket, Scottishmaple. Enough's enough and I certainly wouldn't be able to show the level of patience that you have. Here's to hoping for a decision soon...

Oh, 2 months and 1 day since landing. Where's my damn PR card?! ::)
