Anyone got any timelines on how long PR cards are taking to come just now? They said 'up to 2 months' after landing, but is this an under or over exaggeration?

50 days, you can follow here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp and it's actually pretty accurate

Venting, feel free to ignore.....

Received a letter from my daughters school today asking to fill out the order form for her school uniform for August...I don't even know whether to buy it or not, if I do and get PR, then that is money down the drain and if I don't buy her uniform and don't get PR before August, I will need to try and source the uniform myself at last minute. I can't plan for living here or in canada. So frustrated. Such a small thing but there are several of these small things...

sigh

sorry to hear that - and yes, it's the small things that make it really frustrating. Not being able to plan anything, when, what where etc... it must be even harder with a child, can't begin to imagine the headache that it creates with a family!

I know... I had to wait 60 days for mine. But honestly - you don't really need it, if you're visa-exempt. I carried around with me a copy of the COPR (less practical than a card, but well, it's OK!), for the few times I was asked to prove something. Then after 10 days I got my SIN card, and that was it... so just forget that you're even waiting for it, and it will come one day... it's worth waiting for it - it actually looks quite nice ( and of course, it feels nice to have, as a "real proof" that the process is finally over :-) )

Waiting time go up and down quite often - it was 60 days when I landed, then a few weeks later it went down to 30, now back to 50... point is: the website is quite reliable, but you would need to check every week to make sure that the time hasn't changed... and as far as I'm concerned, now that I have landed, I'm done checking ecas, CIC website etc (apart from the forum but that's different! :-) )

Just checked ECAS and it's showing the mailing address as changed to Hamilton, Ontario.

Could it be? Could it be?

Sharing the pain... went to try and get a library card, so maybe keep myself further occupied while I wait for London to pull their finger out... Nope... need to be a resident... At least I'm with the wife... but its very depressing to sit everyday and watch people who applied waaayy after you see progress... As I sit and stare at "Application Received"...

Double sigh...
Also can I request that posters use proper etiquette, i.e Full sentences and not abusing the caps lock key?

Hey B_cowper22,

I had the same issue when I was waiting for my PR to come through. THe first time the library refused to issue me a card. Then I came back, with the letter of sponsorship as a proof that I had applied, and the first bill that was sent to my partner at our new address, to show that we were residing in the city ( ie, even if I had a tourist visa, I was actually living here etc), and explained the situation. I also made it obvious that I was very bored, and that reading would make the wait easier etc. - and it worked! they issued a temporary card ( where I could borrow "only" 8 books at a time, compared to the normal limit of 30!) valid for 3 months. So - maybe worth a try?
Hope London kicks into action and issues your COPR fast!
Good luck,
Sweden
