If you're only asking them if they have your application, they might not answer ( however some people have had answers from London)... if you have a question related to your application, then they might answer, and confirm at the same time that they have your application... you can always try your luck!
If your ecas is working and it says "medicals have been received", chances are that London has your application and there is nothing to do, apart from waiting for ecas to turn into DM... it should be coming close to your date soon...
Good luck!

Yea, I don't really have a question about it, I just wanted to trigger a response or something, just for peace of mind I guess, though I suppose that's unlikely at this stage! ecas does say medical results have been received so that's a plus. Hopefully not too much longer now, maybe a month or so.
Thanks :)

Hello ghunter! One of the more senior members may correct me on this one, but I think, if your partner is already there and has a visa up until september, you should apply for inland. That way, if your partner also sends off an Open Work Permit application at the same time, he should get his permit in time for september and can continue working! The whole process will take longer, but it shouldn't matter too much and as your application is processing your partner has "Implied Status" meaning no need for him to head back to Caledonia! Of course, there are downsides to this. The biggest one being that there is no right of appeal for an inland application! So you'll have to make sure your case is watertight! Did you have any plans to get married at all?

If you apply for Inland then you will be waiting far longer than most of the people on here, Sponsorship approval/stage one takes an average of 6 months and right now they are only dealing with applications received in July 2012 compared to the Outland Sponsorship approval averaging 55 days and they are working on applications received in November 2012. Both Inland & Outland second stages are taking about 9 months. Once first stage approval is granted for INLAND you can apply for a work permit (must submit with initial application) which is an upside however you must wait out the entire process in Canada, if he leaves and is denied re-entry your application will not be processed and you will have to re-apply via Outland. If you apply outland you may be required to attend an interview (rare for people who are British Citizens) and this would take place in London.

You have to choose the route that suits you and your partner, most people choose outland because it is quicker. Have a read at both Guides on the CIC website.

Well then gaunter!

The experts have spoken! Good luck!

FYI.

Got an email today asking for additional documents so at least they've opened my application.

Can I email them or do they have to be sent via post?

Progress! Awesome! I think it depends on the documents that they've asked for. What are they looking for?

Have decided to do both! Heading downtown to Fedex office right now. Should only take a few days to get to the UK.

Depends on what they have asked for. Can you specify?

Ecas wasn't recognising either my file number or UCI number.. I had a little panic but seems others having problems too. Hopefully it's all fixed tomorrow! Being home is really taking my mind off the endless waiting! Here's hoping we start hearing something soon. Seems they are doing nothing at the moment!

Hey Sfeire,

Just started having the same issues. I was able to login yesterday. Has yours been sorted out? Guess the system is tired of me checking every couple of hours :P

Hi! I'm still having the same issue today. I tried yesterday afternoon and no joy.. Same today!
I panicked thinking it had something to do with my application but if others are havin the problem there must be something wrong! I suppose if I don't have to see the same thing I've seen for the last few months it won't do any harm :P

I agree. Unfortunately that comes with its own consequences. Someone on one of the other links claims that their VO can't grant a visa because ECAS cannot be updated for the user.

So does this mean that we access the same application(software) that the visa agents use to grant/refuse our applications and if we don't have access, they don't have access too. (biting nails)

If it's a server issue (most likely) they'll still be able to store all their info locally (approvals etc.) but they won't be able to push it to us. I would imagine that things are working as usual on their end, they just can't give us access. I think we do use the same application as them, but obviously, we have no access to the backend and the database. Perhaps this means they can't grant visas depending on their internal network because they might not be able to push the info to each other, either, but that doesn't seem too likely.

I'm just speculating, though.

No change today...... Waiting for a DM is as bad as waiting for it to change to in process!!! I also have been nervously scouring through my inbox and junk mail folder on my email to make sure I haven't missed anything sent to me asking for more documents, however nothing yet (unless I accidentally deleted it not knowing what it was...but I can't have done... can I?! Extra paranoia sinking in right now!!!).

Anyone else get any updates today? And yay SaMoS for them having opened your app!
