Hi guys!

My wife (Canadian) and I (British) just posted off our outland PR spousal sponsorship application yesterday (18th Oct) to Mississauga! It's been a hard couple of months of stressful preparation, checking and rechecking, but hopefully it all goes well.

Pinklady, would you please add me to the spreadsheet? How does this work, do I just post on here or PM you whenever there are updates?

Thanks

Hey and welcome to the forum and good luck,

The spreadsheet pretty much works as you said, only it is open for all to edit. Pinklady was granted PR a long time ago and does maintain the spreadsheet but not on a daily basis. If you know how to edit, add yourself and enjoy the boards. You can also look for a October 2012 thread where you can talk with people on similar timelines to yourself and join their spreadsheet.

Good luck :D

What's wrong with the people at the London Office? Are they all on vacation or something? I was so happy to be applying from London because it was one of the more speedier offices but it seems to have slowed down a lot.

OK so I have emailed London Office and they replied (surprisingly) saying that they still haven't received our file - We have asked my mother in law (who leaves in Canada) to call the call center but they ask us to authorize her to call by filling in the "Use a representative" form which we don't really want to do as it might slow down the process of our application...
Do you have any other idea on how we can get an update on the status of our application? The website still hasn't changed and still shows Application Received on July 9th and Medical received.

Thanks !

Hey,

Sorry to hear about the delay in your file, that's really hard! I don't know if it is an option for you, but you cna also sign a form that is a bit different as the "use of a representative" - it allows the person to enquire about your case ( your mother in that case probably) but you still remain the main person to be given information to... so if the other suggestions about phone numbers from Canada etc don't work, you can maybe have a look at that? or do it at the same time, as even if you don't need to have your mother to enquire now, it might be useful in the future to follow up on your case?

It's called "release of information to an individual" and the explanation and forms can be found here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/release-info.asp

Hope that helps! good luck,
Sweden

Hi,
I've just sent my forms off (arrived 01/10/12) and impatiently waiting for any news!
How do I get my progress put into the London VO spreadsheet, it seems like a great way to monitor whats going on.

Thanks
Jim.

Hey Jim,

welcome to the forum and London thread! :-) (maybe somebody already said that but just in case!).
Feel free to add yourself to the spreadsheet, it's open to all.
There is also an october thread so you can also register there if you want, for sponsor approval it will give you a better idea - and on this thread you'll have an idea about London - who has been really slow lately, but well - not much to do about that!
Good luck,
Sweden

London is really slow indeed! :-)

Thanks all for your messages, I'm glad I'm made it to Canada OK, and they let me in for 6 months, so I should have my COPR before it expires... Now trying to adjust to time difference (will take a few days!), and getting things sorting out here (administrative things...) - If I find any useful information I'll share here, especially for those who will land here without COPR in the next few weeks...

Soon going to "Service Canada" office to figure out a few things...

I got really excited today login into ecas because my address had changed to the Canadian one, but it still says only "application received" and also - I sent them a request last week to change my address, so that's probably why they have done it, not because they came to any sort of conclusion about my file! but at least it seems like they have my file, so that's nice to know...

GOod luck all - Hoping for a flurry of Decisions tomorrow to close the week! :-)
Cheers,
Sweden

PS: sounds like a cliche but... i saw a bear! :-) was next to a river observing salmons spawning (very impressive) and suddenly a black bear came to the river :-) made me very happy....

Hey all!
I just had notification yesterday that after 7 months of being in Mississauga to be approved as a sponsor I have finally been approved! Woop woop! They have said file is now on route to London. Now we have booked our flights for the 1st feb but my husband really doesn't want to go over then to not be able to work. We are thinking of postponing until April. On the cic website it says London takes 8 months! What is all your experiences with processing times in London? Is that quite accurate? Hubby's medical expires 5.1.13 and London have said they endeavour to have applications finished by medical expiry dates!! (Mmm I'm not holding any hope at all for that one)
Thanks so much to anyone who can give us any kind of idea what we should do about our tickets!! Aaaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh

Hi,

so far we have been in the process 5 months and I think it will take at least another 2 months to complete.

If you feel a bit flash with the cash you could have ANOTHER medical done before you leave?

Could you get by for a month or two on one income?

Are your flight tickets refundable? If not, you may have to leave in Feb and hope for the best.

None of these decisions are easy - all we can do is wish you luck.

I don't know what to do. I emailed the london office telling them I cannot log into ECAS using the file number and they replied saying:

Your file has not yet been received in London.

It may be that it is too early for information to be available through ECAS but the London office does not administer ECAS, this is done within Canada.

The following web site may be helpful: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/

Sincerely,

MY FILE WAS TRANSFERRED ON JULY 25!

called cic... My file is still in Mississauga. It was never sent to London. The agent is sending a message to enquire why it has not been sent to London. I should call back in a few weeks and this could delay my application by a few months.

I'm going to crawl into a hole now.

This is awful! I so sorry, can't imagine a worse phone call :(
I hope when it does now get sent they look at it right away for leaving you for all this time.

He said they won't. It will be in the queue from the beginning. I have been sitting here in Canada for over a year doing nothing. The burden of all this crap on our relationship has been torture. I've always been self sufficient and independent and now, all of a sudden, my life has been on hold and I have been out of control for so long. I can't bear the thought of another few months of this.
