Woohoo!! Congrats!! How long was it from sponsor approval to COPR?

Hiya,

Thanks! It took just under 3 months from sponsor approval to decision made. I'm not counting my chickens though until COPR has been received. ;D

Congratulations! Not bad hey, less than 6 months. Keep us all updated. ;D

Hey, thanks very much! Yeah, it was pretty quick in total! I will let you know what the decision is. Should find out in the next couple of days.... hopefully ;D

Some people seem to be getting approved very fast!! Hoping I will be in that category!

We posted ours on the 14th May and it said it had arrived the 17th May, although not heard anything from the CPC in Mississauga yet!

Fingers crossed we are as fast as some of the others on here.

we are thinking about going in September and waiting out the rest of the processing time in Canada (although I hate that I can't work but will just need to be patient!) My boyfriend (Scot/Canadian dual nationality) has been offered a job with his Dad out in Ontario although his busy season in Summer so hoping if he goes out early we don't have to be apart for too long! :(

Hi Fhaider,

Thanks very much. I haven't heard anything from them. All I know is ecas says "decision made". I'll be sure to post on here when I do know. Hopefully it'll be in the next couple of days.

Thanks again :)

Link to the spreadsheet is beneath all my posts.
You are now added :)

Hey Pinklady, could you please update the spreadsheet..Sponsor approval May 17th!

Thanks everyone who replied to may quesions. It's great to have this support and someone else to discuss this stuff with.

johare12, We are in a similar position as you. We didn't do ours electronically, the system wouldn't allow us so we paid by bank draft and sent everything in by post. We know it was delivered two days later thanks to royal mail tracking but we have still not heard anything from CIC and we cant check on the website either because we have no reference numbers or anything. Ours arrived with CIC on 21 March, so we should hear about sponsor approval next month if we are in line with most others on here.

We hope we get COPR by mid October this year so we can quit work and have our first christmas off for years, spend it with family and friends then land some time in Jan 13. So excited.

bally21 we are also hoping to go over once the sponsorship is approved and wait it out in Canada. When we spoke with a specialist he said it would be fine to just cross the border at the states then come back to get PR does anyone know anything about this or if it is best to come back from your own country?

oh and one last thing... does anyone know if it is possible to work unpaid in Canada (like an internship or voluntary etc) whilst waiting on approval? I am imagining it should be okay because I would not be earning money but at the same time having doubts.

I just don't want to be bored out my mind waiting and counting the days!

Hi I am a British and applied family class immigration outside Canada category but I am in Canada right now. Actually I know that as British, you are OK to enter Canada with visa exempt while you are waiting for your immigration. HOwever, the immigration officer at the border has the right to refuse your entry but I think it is rare. Once you got application approval in Canada, you can go to the border (Bufallo) just re-enter Canada. The whole process is only 10 to 15 minutes if there isn't a long queue. My daughter (British) went through the process so this is first hand information from me.

Good luck

no, legally you are not allowed to do it even for job without pay. It is still treated as a job
