When you log into ecas, it should say something along the lines of "we received XXX application for permanent residence on XXX-date...." This is known as the AOR acknowledgement of receipt, since London don't actually send out AOR letters like some visa offices do, for example Buffalo.

However I have noticed recently that they seemed to have changed the formula whereas the AOR no longer reflects the date london received it, but the date mississauga received it. At first I thought it was a glitch but its seems to happen everytime now so I don't know.

Is it you being sponsored or your husband?

My husband is being sponsored. Right, the date of receipt is the date that missisauga received it.

How do I know if Mississauga have received my application? I know it has been signed for, as I sent it "International Signed For" via Royal Mail, but I would breathe a little easier if I knew that it was in "the pile" so to speak. I tried finding out by going on to the Canadian Immigration website and entering my receipt number, but all I got was a page saying that my details could not be found.

Is there another way to find out? Thanks in advance.

There is no other way. They will send you an email to say they received it. Ours was received in Missisauga Nov. 3rd, we got an email Dec. 10th acknowledging that.

Don't be scared--whatever the response, best to find out as soon as possible so you can do something about it (if necessary).

In my e-mail, I just explained that we saw the "decision made" update on eCAS, but neither my partner nor I had heard from the visa office yet and we would be grateful for an update. The whole message was three sentences long--clear and concise!

Ok, thanks. We sent our application on 5th January, so I guess we'll be waiting a while for confirmation. It's good to know that we'll eventually get an email to confirm they got it.
