I think they are worthwhile obtaining and since you already have in process since July I would say its a good idea to get them, just to see what stage your background checks are at

They also contain any notes written by the VO, if there are any potential red flags or anything that could be causing a delay then these will be on your GCMS notes

Use the above link, and follow the instructions carefully and attach any supporting documents you might need

If your confused by anything try searching the forum as there are a lot of topics on ordering GCMS notes... I think there may even be a video somewhere..

As for the apps being processed in Ottawa.. there is only speculation at this point

Some people are saying its London's overflow being sent their and others are saying only certain more straight forward cases are going there

What this will do to processing times is unclear at the moment it will either be quicker, if it is more clear cut cases going there or it will be slower - as a general rule of thumb VO's dealing with cases from another country are slower e.g. Islamabad through London etc

Ordered GSMS notes yesterday, selected sponsorship file notes for our outland CL application, should I have selected the immigration notes? Just don't want to wait 30 days for nothing! Thanks

When I updated my address to a Canadian one I also had a typo in the city name. At least they corrected it when I had to change the house number (my fault though). Now the name of the city is correct, even though it is written with a small letter. I guess they really rush there.

When they sent a request for my CSQ, I never received it and since I dont have junk folder and I confirmed with the provider that they dont have filters, I have a feeling the LVO made a typo with my email. Now Im all paranoid theyve been sending all sorts of requests and they still make typo with my new email! Thats why Im ordering GCMS notes every month...

OMG. They are idiots. So they entered my new address incorrectly, so I asked them to correct it. What so they do? They update to my previous address. Wth...

Sponsorship file notes only contain notes on the sponsorship part of your application, if you wanted to see all your notes on your whole file you should have ordered the other ones

The notes you ordered won't tell you anything about the progress made on your application eg if security has been started or not

ATTENTION 2014 APPLICANTS

So in the past six or so months, London has been a bit chaotic in terms of applications. They are processing a bunch of applications from Islamabad to help with the backlog there, and as a result, a bunch of people who have requested processing in London have had their applications transferred to Mississauga or Ottawa.

If you applied in 2014, please post here and let us know which office is processing your application. It will say it in your sponsor approval letter, something along the lines of "Your file has been transferred to -x- for processing."

Thanks everyone!

My letter says it has been transferred to a visa office abroad. It gave a London address below though which I'm told to correspond with if necessary. Therefore, I assume my application is in London. Pity it has slowed up! Stressing me out waiting on it.

Just need a correction in my spreadsheet, the authors have written "applied through Islamabad visa office transferred to London". Infact we never applied through Islamabad but via LVO, because since August 2013 all new spousal sponsorship cases from Pakistan have to go London. The prior cases of Islamabad are also being transferred there. Since we have not received SA yet, so can't be sure if it will be LVO or Mississauga / Ottawa.

My letter says "... has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing." The London, UK Office's mailing address is listed below this. I assume that means my application was forwarded to London.

Question. I received the above letter on Aug 2nd. At what point would it be worthwhile to order the notes on our application? If I ordered them today, is it possible that there are no notes to receive as they may not have started processing the application yet?

Thank you.

Okay, updated all of you.

GISGeek - sorry, my mistake! Corrected.

Sherri - I wouldn't bother. You have a few months more to go!

Thanks to everyone who contributed - everyone else reading, please let us know which office has your application! And yes, the address of the office in the letter/email is the office where your application is sent. Thanks! :)

Maybe this is one of the reasons why us already in Canada Applying In-Land at Mississauga are having such long processing times as they are making you first.

Don't send too Mississauga....

Our first stage processing time is already 13 Months, we dont need that to go up...

Outland applications have to go to Mississauga first for sponsor approval, then Mississauga forwards it to the appropriate office. In the past they have forwarded everything to London, but now with London picking up the backlog from Islamabad, Mississauga is keeping some applications locally, sending some to Ottawa, and sending some to London. It has nothing to do with inland applications, since Outland starts in the same spot.

I sponsored my son in December 2014 just before his 21st birthday, his application is currently being processed in London. His application was complete with Medical and criminal records and my sponsorship was approved. He's in Canada with me now as they gave him a I year visitor's Visa in February 2014. They have now sent him an email requesting 4 passport sized photos which don't have to be certified. We sent them off yesterday via express post. Anyone know why they want these? Don't want to get our hopes up, but really hope this is for a good reason.
