Hi All, Its been a while i did not post anything, just to update i received my passport and a decision was made on 2nd of MAY.

I am planning to move to Canada from London after 2 months.

Does anyone know which airline should be cheaper?

And also how long it takes to get the SIN number after landing?

Regards

I believe AirTransat is the cheapest airline in most cases for getting to Canada. You can get your SIN number in one day after you land! Take your COPR and passport to a Service Canada office and they will issue you one on the spot. It takes about a 30 minutes or so.

Congratulations and good luck!

For reference to info about why the strike is affecting london office mainly. Here are a few detailed articles I came across. And I am guessing we shoudn't think that things are proceeding fine at London because of the 2 DMs by the end of this month. There was hardly any activity on the Excel sheet for 2012 London applicants for the past 3 weeks. In contrast to last month. If you analyze the trend there would be atleast 10 to 12 updates per month. They might have completed some to show that work was going on but will not SPEED up anytime soon. :( :(

Hello Everyone

Here is the updated news that I found regarding the strike. According to the article, "Unionized foreign services officers are returning to the negotiating table on Monday, June 3."

Interesting news....Atleast they have decided to back to address this concern....Based on previous experience in similar situations for the govt to make decisions, how long of a wait are we looking at to resolve this matter? If there is a similar scenario!

Hi all,

Question for family class landed immigrants;

In 5 weeks i'll be landing in Canada! Woo Hoo! When going through immigration, do I need anything other than my Passport and COPR, and what sort of questions might they ask me?

Thanks

Passport + COPR + B4 (2 copies) filled out if you're importing anything, now, or later. + the address in Canada where you will live, or alternatively where you want to receive your PR card : if you don't have a fixed address you can choose a friend, family etc.

Questions they ask are very 'easy" - they mostly verify your identity (with passport) and check that you're still married/common law / if anything has changed ( added dependent etc). then you're done! nothing to worry about.

What was the "average" waiting time for DM after "in process" (before the strike)?? it was two weeks since my "in process" yesterday....but i know the strike is probably slowing things down.

there is no average... if you look at the spreadsheet, it ranges from 3 days to...6 months. In process is the sign that the file has been opened, and that something is preventing them from issuing the visa right away. It can be anything from Police or background checks ( usually that takes long), to locating a medical, to waiting for an answer regarding one particular point in the application, to waiting to match some documents that have been asked... etc. So there is no average...
Lycka til!

Apologies that was 1 week for my official sin card !!! you can get your number in about 30 mins as long as you bring your passport with visa and stamp to service Canada with you.

Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone has any experience here before I posted a new subject

Hubby came here on a 6 month visitors visa Sept 2 2012, so his 6 months was up on Feb 2 2013. We applied the beginning of January to extend (we mailed in our application, paid our $75, etc). We've never heard anything back from CIC. I just checked the timelines, and it says they're processing into February now... would it be worth giving the call center a call? Or does CIC not mail or contact about visitors extensions unless there's bad news?

Thanks guys! :)

Edit: spelling mistake - sorry it's about 2am ATL! :p

you should receive the extension by post, so if they're processing February and yours was received in January, it's time to call and inquire!
Good luck!

The "In Process" thing still confuses me a bit. Our file's still just at "Application Received" while most people around me on the spreadsheet are either "In Process" or "Decision Made." But in an email from CIC they said our file is "still under review." I'm not sure whether that just means it's in process but ECAS doesn't show it because, well, it's ECAS... or if "In Process" is some advanced stage of "under review" we have yet to get to.
