Hey guys!

Some bad news from me I'm afraid. Things with the Mrs. haven't been so good with all the waiting and financial pressure, so I may be withdrawing my application and heading home.

I really hoped it'd be done by now, and I'd be making money again but it doesn't seem like it's gonna happen and there's too much pressure and resentment. It's a tough process. I didn't think we could handle the separation if I stayed, but I guess you play the hand you've been dealt.

Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted. Nothing final yet, but I think it's done. For those of you that made it through this hell, I salute you. And for those that are still going, keep up the good work.

Cheers.
Sorry to hear that DGT, I can totally relate how hard it is to be in this position and how much strain it can put on a relationship. If you need anyone to talk/vent to my PM is always open. Fingers crossed for something positive!!!

Take Care

COPR just came! And just like that it's over. I'm actually over in Japan now and whilst I've been here we've got DM and the COPR. When I left Canada things were still up in the air and when I get back on Tuesday it'll all be settled.

YAY!

elmo11 ^^
That's fantastic news elmo, good luck with the landing

Really sorry to hear that. What a dreadful process this is. Whilst I appreciate them wanting to do proper checks, surely they could speed it up. My Mrs was only out of work for 6 weeks when she applied for her British visa. Sometimes I think that, despite all the complaining we do in the UK, our set up is not really that bad at all.

DGT! So, so sorry to hear this. It's so hard. I've been here for three years, unable to work... I totally understand where you're coming from. We've managed to rack up $20,000 in debt, I had bouts of depression with the whole thing, my poor husband, it's been so hard on him. I'm really sad to say that I'm not surprised that some relationships don't make it through this process. I nearly left a couple of times, and one time I actually did leave for a while. It was just too hard.

You're in my thoughts and all the best.

So I landed last night at Rainbow Bridge! Was so weird, it took longer to get into the States than it did to actually land! But all in all it really didn't take long. We spent five minutes in Buffalo looking for somewhere to get dinner but seriously, Niagara NY is so weird. It's like this dilapidated little town, all boarded up houses and pretty deserted. So we just turned around and had dinner on the Canadian side. I got a GIANT mug of beer. Totally earned it :p

I was very vigilant about getting my passport stamped! They stamp it and write like, a serial number if anyone doesn't know what to look for when they go.

All the border people were really, really nice. There was this one guy who was all like, super serious when we were coming back to the Canadian side, but he cracked a smile when we'd answered all his questions.

I'm going to get my SIN and OHIP today, hopefully it won't be too much waiting around.

SO GLAD this whole thing is finally over. When the mailman came yesterday I started shaking and crying! He was really nice about it though lol.

Many, many thanks for everyone on this forum. You've all been so supportive and amazing, we really couldn't have gotten through it without you. Big hugs.

Thanks, Scottishmaple!

Do I need to have a SIN to get OHIP? Service Canada and Service Ontario aren't anywhere near each other and I don't want to go to one to be told I was supposed to go to the other first.

Might take a crack at the G1 while I'm there :p

You don't need a SIN for OHIP. Just you passport, COPR, and proof of address. :)

I got an email but it was in response to an email I sent them. They wouldn't have sent it if I hadn't been bugging them about it (which I think everyone should do, btw). I know some people have received their COPR before their ecas even changed.

Thanks. I'll wait a month (if I can) and think of a question to ask. My brother in law has spring a quickie wedding in Toronto this summer so we really want to land on that trip else all these flights start to add up!!!

I had better start opening my post more regularly too.
