There is also a request for a birth certificate in the London Immigrant Checklist...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf

Is this only to prove relationship to family members? We have no children being sponsored, and no co-signer. There are too many checklists, I am finding it very confusing!

Congrats! I would guess 7-9 days. It appears from the timelines around here that you usually go to DM after your COPR has been posted (hence why some people in the UK get their COPR before ECAS changes to DM) so it is most likely already on the way.
Thanks Mitchy!

Ghunter, follow the checklist given by scottishmaple (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf), ignore any other checklist you have been looking at. There are quite a few but you just need to follow that single one.

I believe the birth certificate is only required when the application includes other family members (as it says, to prove familial relationships) but it is one of those things where you might think better safe than sorry to include it.

Does your partner not have his/her birth certificate?

His birth certificate is in the UK, and he is living in Canada, so we could possible get it but it would take more time! We will add it in just in case, anything to make the processing go a bit faster, thank you for clarifying for me!

Can you get someone in UK to scan and email it? Doesn't need to be original, just a copy.

For the checklists, I forgot that there are separate ones for sponsor and immigrant (been awhile since I've filled them out :)). The one here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf is for the immigrant and the one here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5491E.pdf is for you.

Pretty much have the same stuff on them, just in a different order. Go through each one methodically, tick off or N/A everything and you'll be fine!

That is true..but the best thing will be when everything is OVER! No job waiting for, haven't really applied for one either...I am not stressed yet since our son just turned 1, and the hubby is working for the two of us(poor guy,but he loves his job). The first plan is to find a " garderie" for the son, and study...but we will see. What about you..when this immigration thing is done? Hope that u are next one up!

no - it's on the checklist for the principal applicant. the principal applicant has to send a birth certificate, even if it's the only person being sponsored.

Went to get my SIN and the computer system died, so I'm going back tomorrow.

Lady wouldn't exchange my driver's licence because my paper counterpart's somewhere in England.

...And I have to go to the next city along to apply for OHIP.

Not a very successful trip :(

Depending on the council area that you were born in, it shouldn't take too long. My mother had to get her birth certificate from Glasgow, to where she lives in France. It took 4 days. Hopefully it won't take long!

So I'm more than a little peeved at the situation with my driver's licence. My parents wisely decided important documents would be kept in a filing cabinet, this includes the paper counterpart to my licence. They've since split and since then apparently this cabinet has disappeared and its contents dispersed, so neither know where it is now.

The DVLA won't issue a replacement with me living abroad now, so now my only option is to say I still live in the UK and have it sent to my old address and forwarded here to Canada. Surely though the person handling my licence exchange would notice that my licence was recently issued and that I've not entered Canada since that date?

Even if I do do that, I'm probably going to be waiting 2 weeks for my replacement licence.

I know this pales in comparison to some of the trouble the London VO are giving you, but it just winds me up that I trusted my parents to look after it and they just lose it. It was a big mistake on my part not to consider this before I came to Canada, so there's a lot of blame on my part too. It just annoys me >:(
