The IEC programme is for people in the U.K also but that is shut at the minute (although it must be close to opening up again). I am also not sure they would grant that visa for somebody in the middle of a PR application because the point of the programme is for people to experience Canada on a working holiday so I doubt very highly that IEC would be granted with spousal application in progress. Even if it were open it would still take a matter of weeks to be granted the visa, am I correct? Also just checked the website and applicants from the U.K have to be between 18-30 and not 18-35 like some other countries.
It's a real shame, and seemingly quite odd, that the age requirements for the IEC differ from the UK to France- I really thought they had been aiming to fix these inconsistencies.

The IEC opens in January and fortunately allows people who are applying for PR to use it- I'll be doing so myself. As the processing time is 6-7 weeks I should get this in March whereas my PR would be scheduled for the summer. It only costs around £100 so it's worth it even if I end up with one week between the two and am working.

Thanks Ross for your encouraging feedback!

It has now been posted, so just a matter of wait wait wait!

I have added myself to the spreadsheet and have decided to give my self dates based on the average wait times on the spreadsheet for when i'm allowed to worry, in the hope that between those dates i can be stress free about it! :p

Good luck everyone!

Yeah it is a shame as I am ok in the 18-35 age range but not in the 18-30 age range *sighs*. If my PR is not finalised by January 1st I would have looked in to it further now you said it can be used by people awaiting PR but I would feel slightly guilty using that 1 space and then say 3 weeks later my PR came through lol. Anyway at least that is irrelevant for me. It is a great visa and who knows maybe when they reopen the programme it may be for ages 18-35 but sadly my birthday is in February and that takes me to 35, so unless the age is done from when you apply as oppose to when its granted I think I would be refused. Desperate to be with my wife, start our lives and get back to working!

Bonitanita (and anyone else who may have advice!)

Can you tell me what made you call to ask about your application? I'm wondering if I need to call too to see if ours was successfully sent to London. I'm curious because you and I submitted at the exact same time and also heard about sponsorship approval within a week of each other.

As of now, I got sponsorship approval July 24th and the email said it would be sent to London. I've never received an AOR from London. I can log on to eCAS but only with my name, birthdate, and UCI (I'm the sponsor). There's no way to log in with my husband's (applicant) details.

When I log in it says decision made under "Sponsorship Application Status" and says application received under "Permanent Residence Application Status" (which, when clicked says they received the application April 30th and medical results have been received.)

I'm hoping this means it is in London. I know that others say their eCAS never changed, but now I'm worried what with the problems Bonitanita has been having....................

Ignore my mild panic attack!! Just to be safe I called CIC and found out my app has been sent to London. Thank goodness! Bonitanita, I'm sending good vibes your way!

More than likely once everything has been finalised and they are happy with the whole process then it hits the shredder or possibly they hold it for a limited time, not sure they would keep that much paperwork for any prolonged period. :D
ooh zats not fair for the amount of time and energy we put to gather all the evidences and it goes to the thredder .I think it would have been better if they returned each of us our things who has sentimental value s for most of us

Oh you sent in original documents (Photo's, cards, receipts, phone records?) Then I can understand your frustration. We personally sent photocopies of everything but we refused to send cards because we knew it was unlikely they would be returned. If you sent originals they may send them back but don't hold your breath.

the only originals we sent in were receipts for things that my husband had bought me because they were al weird sizes and woud have bene annoying to copy.

For cards, i took a photograph of the cards on display in the house, and i scanned in a birthday card from my husband.

Everything else was photocopies.

Congrats bryan, :D

I guess I have an AOR now. London replied to my message asking about my medicals. Although the message was very brief at least it reassures me that they 100% do have my file. Here is what they said-

Good morning,

Your application is currently awaiting a full review. We will issue further guidance regarding your medical examination result and will advise of any further requirements upon completion of a full review of your application.

Kind regards,
CDD

Just received this from London:

Hello,

I can confirm that we have not received your file and that our shared database indicates that your file is still with CPC Mississauga and has not yet been sent. We will forward your email to their office to prompt them to send it.

Sincerely,

ARS

You're right. Disorganisation. Lack of professionalism. Lack of time management. Unacceptable primitive ways for information flow.

I can text my mum in London from a place where there is no cell phone service and she gets the message within seconds. Yet with something like this - I have to wait weeks to get an answer? Are they using fax machines? Morse code? Pigeons to deliver mail? Messages in bottles?

Disgusting,Just to tell you that I applied for my spouse visa for Uk recently ,applied throught the priority way received my visa in 9 days moreover I forgot to enclose 1 important paper which was left in my envelope because when you go to toronto london visa affair they ask you to remove everything from envelope as they put it in their own plastic envelope and you have to send originals ( which by the way everything was returned to me except my skype logs ) .I was still figuring out how to send the missing document when I received an email that my file was processed and it was done in 9 days and at that point I was not even prepared to go to london so I was wondering how come the cic people work and is there staff shortages or what aren't london visa office for Uk receive lots of application too so why do we not have a priority service even though if we have to pay I think they should provide the service Only a reflection ,not my point to offend anyone if here are guys working in cic on this forum.May be with sharing ideas we can find a better way of helping people and change the system.
