Andrew she hasn't got back to me ,but really hoping for some answers. I was also worried about the election so i sucked up but time lol and said i know you will still be here next month so we might as well get on with this investigation. She is going to contact London and see where we are in the process .
Sorry to hear you're still waiting Taffy. I've been a bit AWOL on the forum over the last couple months but thought you and Andrew would be done and dusted by now when I checked in. I hope the MP can get things moving.

Hi all,

Actually I wanted some advice regarding spousal visa.

I am a Canadian citizen and currently a student.
So, I got married about two months ago in Pakistan, my husband is currently living in UK. He has a working class visa over there. I want to sponsor him but I have two options:
1) He comes here on visitor visa and we apply for spousal sponsorship from within Canada
2) Or I apply for him while he still stays in UK.

I have someone told me that since I am a student and cannot really support my husband in Canada, the case would take a longer processing time and that's why my husband should go with visitor visa and then i should apply for spousal visa from within Canada. But I also know that if he comes on visitor visa he would not be able to work here on that visa. Plus I am not sure how long it would take to get that spousal sponsorship from within Canada.

I also wanted to ask that since I am living with my parents could my dad's T4 slips be attached instead of mine to show that my spouse wont be dependent on government for 2years if I directly go with spousal sponsorship? Or is there any other way to show that my husband wont be dependent on government?

congratulations on your marriage :)

as the spouse of the applicant, your finances are not really taken into account when determining whether you are eligible to be a sponsor. however, there are some other people in this forum who are dependent on their parents, and they have included letters and documentation from the parents indicating that the parents are willing and able to assist financially. all CIC needs to see from a spouse is that there is a plan in place for how the applicant will be taken care of.

the fact that you are student will have absolutely no bearing on how long the process takes.

this is the CIC website which lists the average processing times: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp you can see the difference in how long an inland application takes vs an outland application through the London office. each option has its pros and cons.. nobody can tell you which is a better option because it comes down to personal choice - can you and your husband afford to be together for an extended period of time with him not working? can your relationship withstand the strain that financial hardships can cause? are you able to maintain a long-distance relationship for an indefinite amount of time? just a couple things to keep in mind when making the decision. good luck!

Hi. Please can I be added to the spreadsheet? I am a dual National, British and Canadian, living in the UK for 20 years now. My common law partner is a UK citizen. We have been together for 12 years and have three children together, who are all dual nationals. I applied to sponsor him as my Common Law spouse and we are currently waiting for PR approval. Our timeline is as follows:
1. We received your application to sponsor XXXX on December 8, 2014. (Missisauga Office)
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on January 22, 2015.
3. We started processing your application on February 4, 2015.
4. We sent you correspondence on February 4, 2015 about the decision on your application.

Sponsor Approval came in the form of an email on February 4th and the application was then forwarded to London where I believe it was received on February 12th, which is when ECAS added a statement:
We started processing XXXX application on February 12, 2015.

The PR application changed to 'In Process' August 24th.
We submitted medical info upfront with the application.

Thank you!

Hi Andrew - we live in London. Can I also ask - I notice the new change with ECAS marking apps as 'in process' when they have received then, and, since ours only went 'in process' a few weeks ago, having been initially received in Missisauga in Dec 2014, can I assume that we might be close to DM? (As much as one can 'assume' anything with CIC!)

Thank you!

Thanks, updated.

And yes, the new protocol of marking applications in process straight off the bat seems to have started around May 2015. You applied 6 months before then so your in process is a 'true' one.

Hopefully not long now for you!

Great, that was my understanding of the situation. Thank you and hopefully not long for you either - I see you have been waiting a long time, is that because you are based in Canada or did you start your application from Britain?

I am based in Canada and applied from here. I do not think that is why I'm still waiting I think it is down to the Islamabad backlog and September being forgotten about by CIC! Yeah I'm a little bitter.

Andrew - understandably so and the odd way in which some applicants who have applied earlier seem to get DM before those of us who applied later surely can't help! I am still baffled by those who have gone 'in process' and then had DM just a few days later, while others seem to be 'in process' for weeks on end.

Fingers crossed for us all! :)

Hello guys,

Since this thread belongs to London, UK, I am writing in this thread.

I wife lives in London and She just became PR (landed on June 30, 2015). After waiting for more than 3 months, CIC told us that there was a mistake, while landing the officer forgot to put my wife's landing information in the system and it takes 3-4 months more to solve this and to process for PR card (so hopefully we will get card only next year). Since my wife has to complete her grad school, she is already back to London. So we are planning to apply for PR travel document.

My question is does anyone here has idea or experience of apply the same at London VO. Just wonder, how long it takes to process there and how long does PRTD valids for, form the day of issue?

Somehow CIC processing time does not list processing time for PRTD. I really appreciate if there is any input from you guys.

:( thats disappointing, but also good I suppose?

I can't imagine waiting as long as you have with no answers. It just doesn't make any sense.
