Good news!!! ECAS updated today. My application is 'In Process' as of 1st May... coincidentally the same day as I received a response from my MP ;)

So happy!

What info is needed to be added to the spread sheet?

Common-Law outland application

Application received on April 8
SA approval on April 29
Application sent to Ottawa

Let me know what I am missing.

Thanks :)

Location of the applicant is needed. Closest city is fine if you do not want to be too specific.

Glad you have at least some movement mec!

21 days for SA is quick! Well done. I'm assuming the PA is Irish?

All added in!

Hello ALL

I am new to this forum and would like to ask a question or two, or perhaps a few more?

First of all an introduction about myself: I am British Citizen married to my Canadian wife. We submitted an outland sponsorship application in February 2015 and have received 1st stage approval April 2015.

1.What does all the abbreviations stand for e.g. AOR, DM etc... There are so many of them!
2.How long really does the 2nd stage approval take? Currently 29 months for London (this cannot be for straight forward applications with no hiccups ::) a little bewildering)
3.I find it a little strange these sponsorship applications take such a long time especially given the constitutional monarchy and Queen Elizabeth II is head of state ::) I guess this has little bearing, having paid thousands in taxes to the kingdom ::) I really don't understand. Maximum time taken for any immigration applications should be 3 months period. Should not disrupt personal lives of good citizens especially being married!

Also I would like to add - currently living in Canada but cannot obviously work due to sponsorship application in progress. Labour Market Impact Assessment almost NO employers are willing to go through so what to do!

Just like the inland process being issued with a work permit within 4 months, the same should apply to those spouses living in Canada whether inland/outland - no one should be disadvantaged.

I find it a little disturbing the only way I can keep myself busy and not locked up looking at 4 walls is going back to the UK and working leaving my wife behind on her own, shouldn't be like that.

Welcome to the forum!

Abbreviations

AOR: Acknowledgement of Receipt. Basically CIC informing you they have received your application. You may get 1 for Stage 1 and Stage 2, or you may not get an AOR at all.
SA: Sponsor Approval. Stage 1 (sponsor) has been approved. Now your application will be sent to the appropriate visa office, or kept in Canada (Mississauga/Ottawa)
DM: Decision Made. CIC has made a decision on your application and will be contacting you in regards to the decision
COPR: Confirmation of Permanent Residence: This magical piece of paper lets you land as a PR of Canada

2. See the spreadsheet in my signature for current average.

3. What else can you do? You are becoming a permanent resident of another country, this takes time (unless you are one of the lucky ones and your application is kept in Mississauga, then you may as well go and play the lottery)

Thank you Andrew and for that almost instantaneous reply! The Abbreviations make sense, great thanks!

Yep, I see a spreadsheet although confused as to how some application are able to be kept in Mississauga for processing if they are "UK applicants" surely the office should be London? Discrimination?

I thought about playing the lottery, though if I had won, it would be void due to my residency status :(

On the Home and Statistics tab in the spreadsheet the red box explains a bit about why some applications are kept in Mississauga or Ottawa instead of London.

You can also read the FAQ linked in my signature for more info.
