Dear senior members :)

I am a student in uk since 2010 from bangladesh....I got married in 2012 in uk..my husband is Canadian..we applied 10th nov. 2012.we got approved 22th nov. 2012..then our file transfered to Singapore visa office on 26th nov. 2012 where I was expecting to deal with London VO..

Now my question is :::after doing my background checking for bangladesh is there any chance to transfer the file in London aswell!!!!!!cz I'm did not travel at all outside of uk since 2010...
And :::if they require an interview is there any chance to arrange in uk not bangladesh !!!!!!!???!!!

Anyone have any experience or any idea plzzz share here....I m really suffering a lots of tense for this immigration cancer........ ;)

It will be really appreciate if anyone plzz reply back....and thanks in advance :)

On your form did you indicate that you wanted to use the London office? If a visa office is not selected, CIC will automatically select the office that handles applications for your citizen country. In your case Singapore handles applications from Bangladesh.

From what I understand, you cannot request a transfer of your file. Sure you can ask but it is at the visa officers discretion, and they usually do not do the transfer unless it is to maintain program integrity (whatever that means). If you did indeed select London on your form, then you may be able to tell CIC they sent your file to the wrong office.

Also, if there is an interview, it will be held in Singapore, and is very unlikely that London will agree to any request to have your interview at their office. I researched all of this when we realized my husband could not extend his stay in the UK. It's stated in the CIC operational manuals that the applicant moving is not reason enough to transfer a file, and I imagine they also mean living out of your home country as well is not enough reason to transfer a file. I also asked my consultant and he said there's very little chance of CIC listening to any request for a transfer.

Oh wow. I would fire your representative. It's question 4 on the main form to select a visa office for processing your application.

Hopefully someone can help you with this. I have not read or heard of anyone being able to get an interview locally, but it would be amazing if we could. Good luck.

Unfortunately I don't think it is possible to get an interview somewhere else. and in this case - there was the choice to choose London, and if you have been in the UK since 2010, CIC would probably have sent your file to london if your husband asked for it on the form ( or the representative).

The "good news" is that not everybody requires an interview. so if you have a straightforward case, lots of proofs, living with your husband (or visiting often etc), you might not be called for an interview. Singapore has quite a long timeline, so you will have to wait to hear from them, but hopefully an interview won't be required. I don't know if Bangladeshi passports can be sent overseas ( I know some countries forbid it), but I'm sure that it can be resolved.

Good luck,
Sweden

Hey blueboom,

in your case, if your husband is not in the UK anymore, he might be able to get the visa stamped in New Delhi instead of going back to the UK etc... I think Fhaider had a similar case - applied in London but had to leave because his visa was expiring, and once he got his PR, he arranged something with Islamabad I think. you might want to check with him (not sure if he is still active on the forum) to see what is possible.
Good luck,
Sweden

Yeah there is never much to say other than 'still waiting'
Nope they never told us why they didnt ask us for an interview and we never asked. Not like they would have given us an explanation even if we did ask lol :P

True, answering questions is not something they are known for! At least you know they did not lose your application since you said it says it is in process. According to what I read, a major cause of delay is when the applicants lived in different places, thus requiring a longer security checks process. Is that the case with you? I lived in two countries the last 10 years, so probably that is the reason.

Thanks, Sweden! I've briefly read FHaider's case. Fortunately we will not have an issue getting the visa placed as my husband can authorize someone to carry his passport across international borders and we have several trustworthy friends with UK visas. Our concern is in the event of an interview request, he will have to apply for a UK visitor visa and we aren't sure if UKBA will be satisfied with the interview letter alone. That's unfortunately out of our control.

This is good to know. My husband's visit visa expires in December and I thought we would have to get the file transfered to the Islamabad office. So you're saying he can just authorize someone to carry his passport from Pakistan to UK and then back? If that's true i'm so relieved. Hopefully one year is enough but with the way non visa exempt files are being handled I'm not sure if even that is enough :(

I'm not sure about Pakistan passports as my husband carries an Indian passport. We are going by what is written in the Indian passport, so I didn't research it much for other non exempt countries. You may want to read up on Fhaider's case to see what he did.

I think the year will be enough! :)

Security checks could be the reason for delay. My husband did live in 3 different places since he turned 18. He actually lived only 5 months in Belgium, but they still wanted us to get a police certificate so I guess they want to do security checks there too.

I think it does delay things a bit when the applicant has lived outside of their country of citizenship... it's also probably dependent on how good the relationship between the countries are too...

The other thread saw a lot of movement this week. Anyone here get any news?

No movement here as most of our cases are out of the hands of LVO at this stage. The security checks are carried by external offices, and the waiting game just gets worse ...

I keep hoping that FK22 and Afshe would have heard something by now. :(
