Hello!

My Canadian wife has sponsored me (am American) to get permanent residence through the Buffalo office. I got an email stating they are ready to finalise my application and want two pictures, a photocopy of all the pages of my passport, and a return envelope so they can mail me my COPR documents. What happens next? Do I get a COPR then wait for a residence card? Will all this be done through the mail or will I need to physically go to Buffalo?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Congrats Bubba!!

Yep, you're right but it's hard to not have any pattern at all is my thinking. You just brought up another example - Morena. I honestly would have stayed in the U.S. during this process but one of the reasons I decided not to was because I thought due to the pretty thin history my husband and I had before we got married, I'd be putting the application and the relationship in jeapordy of being judged non-bona fide if I didn't move to live with him (I actually waited several months to file after already being in Canada). I know Buffalo almost never questions the relationship if the PA is an American citizen but I just didn't want to take that risk. But I think if I would have done it over I would have filed in March from Canada without a complete application.

You can but I'm worried people might come to conclusions based on something that likely isn't true.
The visa office likely knew but my wife being Canadian, and the sponsor, she was covered by OHIP (universal) for every OB visit, pediatric cardiologist, delivery/postpartum/NICU stay, so that wouldn't have been any reason to expedite the process. Someone recently, I think Morena, went through something similar (in Canada, medicals done there, filed outland, stayed) except their process was double mine. I'm telling ya, the more you try to find consistency, the more you'll find the opposite. Too many variables. :p
I fought so hard not to post in that topic slamming the OP. Gotta rise above it.

Dropping in to say hello and see if there was any news for you good people.

As for me, I fly out tomorrow in the worst weather expected in the Pacific Northwest this year! Good thing my first leg is to Vegas! It will be a change from the snow-covered WA state. Of course, by the time I arrive in Buffalo (on time and on Wednesday night, Gods willing), I'll be back in the snow!

I'm staying in a hotel by the airport, and plan to taxi into town at 6. I don't want to take any chances with traffic/weather. I'll just hang out in the lobby as has been stated.

Wish me luck getting to Buffalo on time!

That's the only concern I have left with the short time frame, and weather.

I don't plan on disappearing for a good bit. I will post my landing story (planning on it Friday night after I arrive back in WA), and process of importing goods/car, SIN # application, PR card, etc... later.

Good luck, all!

They're also all over Southeastern Michigan, but the coffee and iced capps are not as good as they are on the Canadian side. I will also say that the service overall isn't as good, either. It kind of depends on where you go.

That was probably me. And the only thing in that first lobby is Timmies, so it's impossible to get lost!

Oh yes. They're EVERYWHERE in Western NY! ;D

i would imagine that he might not have realized at the time that one already had 'flown the cuckoo's nest' so to speak.

I have to conclude however, that if I went through an experience like that at the border, that I would've likely lost a screw as well.

One other thing I can conclude from this particular subject is that I don't think we were getting the whole story from her, either. She, or he, said he/she was from a visa exempt country, but the manner of her broken English suggests that she may be deceptive for whatever reason. I'm thinking she may perhaps be Chinese. I didn't read through the whole thing, though. It was just too much for me to handle. But then, I went to the CIC website to see what countries and territories are listed as requiring a visa, and apparently, Hong Kong is visa exempt - though China is not. (I thought Hong Kong has been a part of China since 1999?) So I really don't know.

Yes I wasn't asking for slamming. I generally felt sorry for the OP, whether her claims are valid or not she appears to be in need of support outside of this forum. I was just curious as to why Bubba appeared to have promised her help and got her hopes up like that.

Just got back from the post office where I mailed my passport to Fort Erie. Yes, the PPR email came earlier today. Finally, finally, finally I am out of this immigration hell. Needless to say, my best wishes go out to everyone still waiting but especially those that have been waiting the longest. After all, sometimes this process gets a little redic - so much so that they should maybe have an SNL skit about how long people wait for - like show someone dropping off their application as a young person and then while laying on their death bed, lo and behold, they get an email from Buffalo requesting their passport......and they die happy. Okay, that was a gross exaggeration :)

Another one bites the dust!

Thanks for the sweetness :)

We contacted Stephane Dion's office more than a week ago, in case that bit of info is useful, but it's hard to know whether that influenced the Buffalonians to act because we didn't sign any consent forms and we just had to take the aide's word that he contacted them for us (and he hadn't gotten back to us with a response to the questions we asked by the time the PPR came, so we were kind of sceptical about what he was really doing).

She's obviously mentally ill. DIdn't read all of the posts but risperidone is an anti-psychotic (I'm a doctor). We use it to sedate people or people who have schizophrenia or bipolar sometimes take it on a regular basis. The fact that she keeps posting nonsense and reading her words feels like a mile a minute signals to me that she is probably bipolar and manic right now. She needs help.
