Congrats on the baby front! Does your Husband have medical through his work? Many of them will pay for maternity Visits for spouses even if the spouse is not a Canadian Citizen or Resident..I had to go through my pregnancy here in Canada not knowing that until 4 weeks before our daughter was born! We had to pay for the maternity visit each month which were $80 and Ultrasounds (we had 3)! which were $180 each. So worth finding outVervain said:June 4th yay!! Mine was sent on to Buffalo on June 8th so hopefully I'll hear soonish. We are really under the gun now as I just found out I'm pregnant. I am hoping and praying to get this done ASAP so I can at LEAST get my OHIP before the birth if nothing else. Sigh.
Wat do u gotta worry about ur already in Canada...LOLbritincanada said:Congrats on your Passport Request Rachel I am waiting on mine from London...The have been processing mine for 2 weeks now and some London Applicants get PPR after only 3 weeks in process
He does have Green Shield yes. Unfortunately, they don't cover anything that would normally be covered by OHIP. I am going with a midwifery practice which is free to anyone with an address in ON. I'll just have to cover the extra tests and ultrasounds and birth out of pocket. COME ON FIVE MONTH PROCESSING time!!! I wish i didn't have to wait the three months for OHIP since I've been here already forever and a day but whatcha gonna dobritincanada said:Congrats on the baby front! I'll check and see if we can do that My midwives are FREE they assure me, they keep telling me a homebirth is 100% free but I am NOT keen on that idea AT ALL. I won't be getting an epidural this time, had complications galore the last go round with mine. I'm brand spanking newly preggo, not due till mid-March So I should be good as long as I process before Dec. Which would be 7 months *fingers crossed* We will even be driving to Buffalo to drop off my passport if we can so that it goes more quickly.britincanada said:How pregnant are you? I suggest you may want to buy a Top up medical that will cover the birth just incase..It costs approximately $2,500 per night in a hospital in Ontario for Non-Canadians and people with no OHIP or a discount rate of $1,900 if you can prove you have PR in process...another $900 for an epidural and about $700 for the midwife (going off my fees)..luckily the baby will have OHIP as soon as its born
I was detained in the hospital for 2 days..they would not discharge me as I didn't know how to look after my baby and totally ignored my husband and the fact that he has twins already!!
I hope you don't have too long to wait for your PR..
I dont think you need to worry, Make sure you tell Buffalo though to update your file.. they need to know these things...Just try and enjoy your pregnancy..I would love to have another baby, but we are holding off until I have PR..we are still paying for the birth of our 3 1/2 year old daughter!! I would be very shocked if you didnt have PR by Mid-March next year..or even December..Vervain said:I'll check and see if we can do that My midwives are FREE they assure me, they keep telling me a homebirth is 100% free but I am NOT keen on that idea AT ALL. hey thanks xyrus...i read it too and i just wanna double check...thanks for taking effort to find that out!xyrus said:Hey even I found an excerpt in the Instruction booklet of Application to sponsor member of family class - Spouse and dependent children.
Right of Permanent Residence Fee
You will need to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee before the application for permanent residence of the person you want to sponsor can be finalized. We will send you a request to pay this fee when we are ready to issue the permanent resident visa. The fee is $490 per person for the principal applicant and each accompanying family member.
Exemptions
The following people are exempt from the Right of Permanent Residence Fee:
your dependent children
the dependent children of the principal applicant
a child you are adopting
your orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild
So, you are basically exempt =) Good Luck!
