So great to hear the news!!! I was beginning to worry for you and me both! ;D

Mine still says "Application Received" and I've not received an AOR by e-mail or letter...but I'm hoping something will move soon since I just received my Certificat de Selection du Quebec (CSQ) from Québec. Maybe Buffalo's work is pending receipt of this document. I can only hope!

Hope you hear from them soon too!!! I don't mind the wait as "good things come to this who wait" it Just become excruciatingly painful to wait but get no answers! Your AOR should come! I wonder if you could call and ask

Baboo...It arrived to their offices on April 27, 2011 and by May 3, when my husband called for another reason, they told him that we should receive it within 2 weeks. In truth, they sent it May 13, 2011, and it took 2 whole weeks to get to us on May 27th.

It's a very quick turnaround, I think, as far as these things go (except for the Post).

Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I need your opinion. I finally heard back from Buffalo about my husband's PR application and we finally know that it's in process and I know how file numbers that I can check on CIC.

thing is.....We got my sponsorship approval April 20, 2011 and they sent out our application to Buffalo the same day. When I check CIC, it says "We received your application for permanent residence on January 1, 2011. "

The dates definitely do not match up! How could they have received my husband's PR application before we even sent it?! Should I email them about the discrepancy?

As far as I know via the email reply I received from them to inquire about the status, our application is "in process". I got tired of waiting and seeing "not applicable" under PR when I looked up my own client id# on CIC so I decided to email them and ask.

I have the client ID# for myself(sponsor) and they sent me TWO file #s(husband) to look up.

If you haven't received any new info, I suggest emailing them. They got back to me within a few business days!!

Yes, that is the correct website. You should be able to get the fingerprints done at any police station, or inquire from your local constabulary where it can be done. When you get the prints and the bank draft, make a copy of the bank draft and make a copy of the airwaybill from the courier you use to send the form to the FBI (don't send them your copy, you will need it to track the package).

I don't recommend you use regular post, you are working with a very tight deadline! Use FedEx or DHL or whoever serves your country as an international courier. Send the copy of the draft and the copy of the airwaybill back to your embassy with a cover letter explaining that you have sent it off, and tell them how much time the FBI estimates to take. That should be enough to buy you time to get it back and submit it.

If you can, I also recommend you get a prepaid envelope from the courier for the FBI to return it to you. Explain on your application form in the part where they have "Reasons for request" that you need it for immigration to Canada, you have a deadline of (insert date) and ask them to please return it in the prepaid envelope. I have heard of them expediting requests from people.

Thanks for your great advice! Normally how much $ should I get for the prepaid envelope? Is the FBI report just 1 piece of paper?

Also, I'm thinking it will be easier to pay by credit card, do they accept non-US issued credit cards (I guess visa will do the currency exchange?). Thanks again!!

Yes, all embassies of whatever country observes the national holidays of their own country and the national holidays of the country they are located in. So the Canadian embassy in Buffalo will observe Canadian holidays and American holidays.
