Thanks for the updated chart Tulamoon! When you have time again to add updates:
My app. was received at the VO on: April 14, 2011

Thanks Tulamoon! My app. received by VO is April 28.

However, I still haven't received any email or letter for my sponsorship approval ! They still got my address wrong on eCAS. I have filled in an online enquiry form, emailed and faxed them my correct address nearly 1 month ago but I hear no response. There is no one to call as it is automated machine just telling you to check the website for information.

So frustrating! I don't even know if I'm approved as sponsor or not! I'm thinking whether it's any use if I go directly to the visa office (Canadian consulate office) and try to ask (but there is a security guy at the entrance that filters all enquiries.. don't even know if I have a chance to talk to any officer..)

they sent an email yesterday informing my husband that he was approved for sponsoring me, and telling him to fill some new forms since we're applying to quebec province..
yes as i know calling the help line could delay the process .. i hope you hear good news in the next few hours :)

Hi i was wondering if you received an actual letter of sponsorship approval via mail right after getting the email. we're applying to quebec too, and im not sure if i should just print the email and attach it with the undertaking application.

Hi all, I need your help!! I just received a letter asking for a Certificate of No Criminal Conviction from USA FBI for my husband (immigrant). I'm not sure why they ask that, maybe because a few yrs ago, he was assigned by his company to work in the US office for 1 yr?

Anyway, how can he obtain that if we are both living in Hong Kong right now? I heard they need his fingerprints too? How to do that?

Also, the deadline is 45 days or else this application may be refused! Is it possible to get it done, mailed back to us in HK and reach visa office within 45 days??? :o

Thanks guys!

They are asking for that because you have to provide police clearances for every country that you have lived in for 6 months or more from the day you turn 18. You may be able to get the paperwork online (almost sure about that), and go to the US Embassy if there is one, or the local police department to have the prints taken, and then send it to the address that is outlined on the FBI website

Thanks Stumpedmom! Just to make sure, is this the correct website to get the application form and other info?

Do you know normally how much time FBI needs to get the cert. done? I'm thinking whether I should write to the VO now to inform them that the FBI website saids processing time may take up to 6 weeks so don't reject my application if it doesn't arrive within 45 days!!

Yes, that is the correct website. You should be able to get the fingerprints done at any police station, or inquire from your local constabulary where it can be done. When you get the prints and the bank draft, make a copy of the bank draft and make a copy of the airwaybill from the courier you use to send the form to the FBI (don't send them your copy, you will need it to track the package).

I don't recommend you use regular post, you are working with a very tight deadline! Use FedEx or DHL or whoever serves your country as an international courier. Send the copy of the draft and the copy of the airwaybill back to your embassy with a cover letter explaining that you have sent it off, and tell them how much time the FBI estimates to take. That should be enough to buy you time to get it back and submit it.

If you can, I also recommend you get a prepaid envelope from the courier for the FBI to return it to you. Explain on your application form in the part where they have "Reasons for request" that you need it for immigration to Canada, you have a deadline of (insert date) and ask them to please return it in the prepaid envelope. I have heard of them expediting requests from people.

I FINALLY got a reply from Buffalo! They replied to my email and told me two file numbers..can I search for them on CIC?

I am so happy to hear! Just in time for the weekend. :) ;D

What e-mail worked for you? I need to write them to change my address.

I saw the email just as I was getting into work, I almost broke down and started crying!

I sent an email to buffalo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca with my client # as the subject. Took two days to get a reply.

So great to hear the news!!! I was beginning to worry for you and me both! ;D

Mine still says "Application Received" and I've not received an AOR by e-mail or letter...but I'm hoping something will move soon since I just received my Certificat de Selection du Quebec (CSQ) from Québec. Maybe Buffalo's work is pending receipt of this document. I can only hope!
