Yeah - what wonderful news these last few days - congrats Kaycee & Individuallikeeveryoneels
And Shandymoo have a fantastic/safe flight - can't wait to hear all about your landing experience.

We're flying back in July (my partner will complete his landing then). We have now moved on to dealing with the the American Embassy, we are trying to get him a tourist visa to the states so we can visit family before landing. It just never ends!

My flights are all booked. I'm coming back to the UK this weekend to visit, drop off my passport in London and pick up a few belongings. I'll be landing June 17th in Vancouver 8)

Congratulations IndividualLikeEveryoneElse! I'm hoping you can tell me if the High Commission requested any additional information from you after you got your AOR? Since we applied and went through the early stages almost on the same time, I'm trying to figure out whether the request we got for additional information (they wanted a copy of my wife's birth certificate, not required on the original application) might mean we're waiting a lot longer than you did, or if we can cross our fingers that we might only be a few days behind you in getting a decision. Can you enlighten me? Arrrgh, the waiting with no information is killing us! We so want to be in Vancouver for the best part of the summer.

Hey vagabond. No they didn't request anything else of me. I included a photocopy of both sides of my wife's birth certificate in my application however. Hopefully they will look at the one you've sent, tick the relevant box and send you a PPR!!!

Thanks for the information Individual! But darn, I guess we might be further behind than we hoped. Since my wife was born elsewhere in Europe, it took us a couple weeks to get her original certificate copied and a certified translation done. Now we'll have to worry about how long it might take them to open it and review the entire application again on top of the extra time it took to get the birth certificate to them. :-(

My understanding is that when they request further information, they put a "bring forward" date onto your file for when they review it again. Even if you send the information immediately, if the bring forward date isn't for 2 months, they won't look at it until then. I could be wrong about this, but that's what people have said in other threads.

Ok soo I just landed on friday evening at Toronto airport. I had all the customs declaration forms filled out with what i was bringing with its cost and serial numbers for electronics... I go to the passport control desk and tell them i was landing and they ask for the declaration card that you fill in on the plane so i was a little confused because i wasnt sure if i had filled it in right and it just asks for the total cost of items you are bringing. So then i was told to go to another desk and this nice girl processed my landing forms, she didnt ask me any questions or anything, just said oh you married a canadian? She told me to sign the copr in 4 different places and then that was it. I asked about declaring goods and she said you do that after you collect ur bags. SO i got my bags and then the customs people collect ur declaration cards that u get on the plane on the way out and into the arrivals hall. I said to the man that i was landing today and he just asked if what i had was everything and if i had any goods to follow which i said no then he said all he needed was the declaration form nothing else. Which is really weird cos i had everything ready and didnt even need it! It was ridiculously easy and super quick!

So that's me done ;D

Exciting times ahead.....

I went to London on business a couple of weeks ago and dropped off my boyfriend's passport (annoyingly the CDN High Commission is only open Thursdays from 2 - 3!). His Mom is picking it up this Thursday and sending it to us and we'll look at heading out of the country so that he can come back in and offically "land". Eeeek!!

Has anybody got any experiences from their landing - easy, hard, questions that are asked, paperwork you HAVE to have? Also, when you land, do you then just have residency or do you have to send off for some form or card or something?

So glad that you finally got your PPR and can move on with your plans. Congrats.

Do you think that the voice mail message you left had any bearing on this? I'm still waiting.....it's been over 3 months since "decision made".

I couldn't get the receptionist to put me through to immigration. I've sent an email but no joy. Do you think this could be cause for concern? Surely they would have notified me if it was a refusal. Soooo frustrating.
