Hi everyone.

I am new to this forum althouth I have been reading your posts for a while now. I think you are all doing a great job supporting each other in this painful wait we all go trough.

Me and my husband have applied on January 19th, that means Mississauga office must have received it on January 20th since we live about 2 minutes away. So far no word from them yet.

We submitted our application this past January. I am Canadian, and she is American, and we both live in Korea, so suffice it to say it was difficult to get the material, so we are not very optimistic about them accepting our application, since we had to translate a lot of documents from Korean to English ourselves. Also my common law has a DUI on her record from 2009, no aggravating circumstances (thank god), just payed the fine and lost her license. However, they told her at the border (she is from a border town in Maine) that she is no longer welcome into Canada (even as a tourist), and that her PR would probably be denied. We still applied anyway, because there are other ways for her to get in the country. Oddly Canada is the only country in the world other than some countries in the middle east with this rule. She had no problem getting an E2 teacher's visa for South Korea, where she teaches elementary school and has live for 3 years, and she has traveled to about half a dozen other countries with no problem. I don't think the Canadian government realizes that if the wife or husband of a Canadian citizen is rejected, it basically means exile for the Canadian as well, since they will probably leave Canada to be with their loved one. I find it strange that South Korea, once of the more xenophobic countries in the world and culturally opposite of the USA, is more welcoming to her than Canada!? Anyway, wish us luck! Does anybody know how we could change this law in Canada?

Yes, just for the first part. On Feb 2 it was working on files from January 5/11, that's what I meant by they gained a day!

Oh that caught me off guard! They updated the processing times page alot earlier than last week!! I thought i was going to have to wait 4 more hours lol, thanks Kaycee!!! :-* ;D

Just as i had predicted january 13! They seem to be doing about 6-7 days a week. I think it took them 6 days just to get through ones received on the 4th jan because thats when they will have gone back into the office after new years break and they will have had a back log from the holidays etc.
I predict they will look at mine either on friday or monday so not long now!

If 13th was looked at on monday, hopefully 14th was tuesday, (15th and 16th were weekends no mail)17th is today and tomorrow is 18th so tomorrow they should decide my fate haha

It depends on what your sponsors address is, if he lives in ontario near mississagua then you should get it the next day or two if you live in another province or country it can take anywhere from 3 days to a week or more

I have a question about sending passport to ND. Should we send a self-addressed envelope with passport? should envelope be stamped? Are there any rules posted by ND about sending the passport? Please let me know the process of sending the passport to ND. Regards...V
