Big Sigh.....

Just seems like we all have been waiting so long.

Frustrated and discouraged :(

still waiting :( On the upside I received conformation from Mississuaga saying they received the right of perminant residence fee and the receipt we sent in as of june 13th (stupid mail strike).

I'm hoping now that the mail strike is over we will receive IA :)

Come on Buffalo (and all other immigration offices) make some dec people happy!!!

Agreed, understatement of the year :(

Just look at the positive side. Remember how long it took to put together the paperwork and the thoughts that the process could take one year or maybe more? lets use that same energy to think positive thoughts. We are closer to the end of the process than the beginning of it. :) have a smile the thought of reunion is a good thought

spiritrac I KNOW you are right, but this week the delays have just been taking it's toll.

Being apart from your spouse in what is suppose to be the "honeymoon" phase, ongoing travelling, the financial hardships, the inability to know when you can start your lives, going to bed alone are all just some reasons why I'm down and out.

Just want to be a wife, to my husband. To live together. The ability for him to work. Seems like a such a simple wish, but one that is left in the hands of the system.

:'(

Cindy1 I empathize with you and all the others that are separated from spouses but again I ask what was the thought process when we began this exercise did we understand that it might take some time and that we did not control the process.

I spent years separated from my spouse trying to get to the USA and traveled back consistently between Canada and Tampa Florida I would take off every long weekend and drive to Tampa to see my spouse and then drive back to Canada that process was even longer than this one. If we compare the immigration process for family reunification in the USA and in Canada you would understand that getting to Canada with your spouse is a much shorter process.

I am not saying that we can't be frustrated especially when we see others after us that have gotten thru but sometimes I think that some of our expectations are unrealistic.

When I first applied they had more than one column (it now says 11 months) and the columns went from 4-11 months. So when we applied I certainly didn't think it was going to be the max 11 months.

Try to stay positive guys. :) Someday this will all be an (unhappy) memory. But please also keep in mind that this is a safe place to vent your frustrations, disappointments, success, and joy with other people who understand what you are going through. That, along with the opportunity to gain knowledge about the process, is what this forum is all about.

I remember this, Jeff! It caused a bit of a stir on another forum. Another question nobody could get any real answer to. (Kind of like the ongoing #B versus #F debate ::) )

Thank you quakingaspen. I touched on this in the other thread, and I was hoping someone else saw this forum in a similar way... you described it perfectly :)

We are just downright deflated....

Update: (cross posted in Buffalo grp)

Left Phoenix Az on June 9 and spent 6 days travelling to Buffalo with trailer of belongings. Hubby went to buffalo office at 7am and was back at hotel by 9:30am.
Packed up stuff and headed to Lewiston bridge as we had 2 vehicles to export and import. The whole process from export to driving away was about 1 hr and 10 min. No fan fare, no issues at all. They never asked to look in the trailer or see a list of goods. The trailer was 24ft long and held my car and our stuff. Hubby crossed the parking lot to the vehicle when we were done and said, "Is that it? Did we miss something?"
No honey...thats it....welcome to Canada.

We have spent the last 2 weeks getting SIN, health, drivers lic. etc and job hunting. Hubby got a job the 2nd week and he starts mid July. Now we begin house hunting.
So far its been very smooth.....too smooth.....waiting for the other shoe to drop.
If anyone has anything specific questions, let me know.

Good luck to those in Dec-Feb!

Kazinaz....now

Many congratulations for a smooth move and many wishes of much happiness for your future :-)

Congratulations on your move all the best with your settling in Canada

Congrats, Kaz. :) I'm glad to hear that everything is going so smoothly! I think the only thing we have left is the import/export of my car. That's going to have to wait until we have a few business days to take it to the states and wait.

Congrats again, and I'm hoping for more good news for our longsuffering December group!

Congrads Kaz. It's encouraging hearing others success stories, esp from the Dec group.
