Just checking in to let you know that we landed 24th May 2011. :) Glad to see some action in here. Can't wait to see more PPR.

Just out of curiosity... Does sending a Case Specific Inquiry run the risk of slowing down the processing of an application in any way? I see some people have found out their files are In Process only after sending an inquiry, NOT actually receiving an ecas update/other form of communication... I've been contemplating sending an inquiry, (especially since the people immediately around me on Sparkle's spreadsheet have received their IA's now) but if there's any chance it will slow anything down, I will continue to be patient...

My other thought is to just wait it out and see what happens during Buffalo's "catch up week"... maybe even wait till June 17th, which will be the 6th month mark for me. If nothing else, this process has made me learn more patience (contrary to it may seem in my older posts. A little frustrated venting isn't always a bad thing! :P)

I hope this is all somewhat coherent. It's incredibly early in the day for me, and my brain is nowhere near fully functional yet 8)

I don't think it would harm the progress, but I also don't think it would help :(

They will just reply saying your file is in process....

I know what you mean..., you are just before the "IA" people, and I am just after them. I can't wait to see some progress. This process has taught me about myself...how impatient I am ! lol

I have not received IA yet either, but there is a notice on the Buffalo website stating that they are halting all mail into Canada due to the postal strike so that could be effecting it as well...or you and i have the same VO and they are not one for sending out stuff unless they need something from us...

Ha, I've been meaning to ask this too (and it's probably a really stupid question)... Is there any teeny tiny chance the strike will affect IAs and whatnot going to US addresses? I'm still living in western NY.

Hi guys. :) I have heard that asking about your file can slow it down, as they sometimes have to go and actually pull your file to check whatever it is you're asking about. And then, rather than sticking it back where it was, they'll just put it at the back of the queue. If you're just asking if it's in process, then perhaps they can just check the computer system and not physically pull the file.

As for the mail strike... I don't think it will slow down any communication with people in the States. After all, the office is in Buffalo, and they're sending it through the USPS to whereever you are in the states. Canada Post isn't involved. However, it may delay IA's to folks in Canada, as these have generally been delivered via paper mail.

And now, here is the update for this week! I wish I had more to report... let's hope that June 20 will be a bumper week of news for us, after they have had that catch up week.

Mail out of buffalo to a US address is carried by US postal service.....you wont be affected.

That's pretty much what I figured, but I'm sure I'm not the only one whose mind it crossed. We ARE dealing with the consistently inconsistent CIC here, where one never knows what kind of delay may turn up at any random moment! :P

We just sent a case specific enquiry, hoping for some news soon :'(

I must say, though I am happy for them, it is still very frustrating to see people go through who have applied months after us. We have not heard anything since the AOR (end of March), and no reply at all to our emails. This state of limbo is really taking a toll...

All the files and related documents are normally scanned and no they don't have to take out a file from the q or shelf. Now a days most of the embassies use computer's to check the progress. ( I am not a case officer but I know this cuz I've spoken to them over the phone and with in seconds they give u all information regarding urcase.)

Sending them an email doesn't add delays. They tell you not to send them any query cuz their work load is always high. Mind you they have special star to respond to calls and email queries. Your case officer is not sitting there to respond to ur phone calls or emails. Mist of the queries gets answered at the 1st point of contact I.e. CSR. Only handful gets escalated to specific/ur case officers.
So if u feel like sending an email, just send it. At least that will satisfy u.

Our RPRF was confirmed today that it was acknowledged for Thursday of last week. So hopefully PPR very soon!!! Wish us luck!!
