Dear All,
What a strange trip it has been. I am happy to say I did get a message from the Canadian Embassy in Beijing saying my wife and step daughter have been approved. Funny thing it said "decision made" on eCas March 31st, and here we are, patiently waiting 4 more weeks and still no passport being returned to us.
We plan to move to Canada in August so we are not in a hurry for the PR visa. However, my wife's Chinese resident visa (she is not chinese) runs out on May 12th and needs to be renewed. The immigration department does not have a phone number - only fax and email. I have emailed politely twice to have her passport back (even without the PR visa) so I can continue to have her legally living in China, but they have only emailed back once saying she has been approved, and to be patient.
While I am happy she was approved, I am not sure why they cannot give her passport back? The passport is technically the property of the Kazakh government, they have kept the passport now of a foreign national for 3 months, and if they keep it for one more week, it will make great trouble for me, my wife and step daughter, by causing them to live illegally in China. Of course, without the passport, they also cannot leave.
Hmm. Strange problem to be sure.
Not sure why they will not cooperate.
Cheers to all
