Two weeks from today I will be driving down to pick my wife up and see if she can come visit for a couple months while we await a decision. It's been extremely tough being apart so long...I last saw her in March. We kept thinking "oh another month, another month" but another month has turned into months. So we'll see if she can come visit while we wait. She is absolutely terrified of us doing the drive and her being turned away at the border.

I'm sure it will be ok Jeff, only think positive thoughts we are still waiting on my extended visitors visa application. Hopefully the remainder December folk will get news soon...

If you mean Crillz.. he initially sent the application to Mississauga in February, but then had it sent back.

I am so sorry lnl, wish I could do something to help, I really do.

We are sitting here talking about what we can do next, we have done everything right, sent three case specific emails to London, emailed receipt from prf both to Mississauga and London twice - by post and fax. CIC have confirmed payment, local MP has received confirmation that both Mississauga and London know we have paid...we just don't know what else to do. Talk about a straight forward application being swallowed into a black hole...it's ours :'(

I posted this on the buffalo thread but want to share with my fellow December colleagues


Thanks to all of you its been a long time and we are still waiting for my son's file to be completed, he is going through the Port of Spain Office.

We begun this process in May 2010 assembling all the information looked at consultants and then settled on one, we contracted with them in June 2010 and they submitted our file in November it was returned to the attorney but the person handling our file was on vacation and never spoke to us until December when it was refiled, and here we are today. Throughout this process I have personally tried to maintain my composure there were times I was frustrated but realized that its a process and I did not control that process so it was no use me getting upset because that would not change things.

My wife can now concentrate her energies on beginning the Doctoral program in Education at the University of Toronto and would not have to think about being an international student with the cost associated with it. She is a Technology profession both her bachelors and Masters is with computer science and mathematics but she want to change careers and enter the Education arena (I posted before that she tutors mathematics to both inner city kids and middle and upper income Kids and have notice a big difference in the way they communicate) so she is embarking on a program using technology to enhance the teaching of Mathematics

We just noticed someone from London office that applied in may got their PPR in July, talk about rubbing salt in wounds...

Yeah like pinklady said, we sent our application in February, the officer in Mississauga somehow came to the conclusion that we didn't qualify as common-law despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It was returned to us in March and May before I could get a new police certificate and resend the app. When it got sent back it seemed to go through the process very fast. I'm sorry that in your case they dont seem as willing to admit their mistake and prioritise your app. Seems like it would be the most fair thing to do

Our comment was never meant as a personal one, we wish every applicant a speedy response, but yes as December applicants we watch with wonder at all applicants who have had PPR/ landed before us and we do have a very very straight forward case. It gets harder every day ....

Thank you crillz and longtimecoming...we are remaining calm until the actual PPR comes through, it's taken so long to get to this stage we need to see it in black and White before it sinks in, but yes even having the status updated is a step in the right direction
