Hi,

Im about to lodge application with Sydney office. Im confused on several things though so I thought I would throw this out there. I am a Canadian Citizen sponsoring my Australian husband. I currently live in Australia, with my husband

Once I have lodged the application, am I able to return to Canada for several months for contract work? I would obviously need to return to do my interview and if needed, additional documentation. But can I return to Canada to work for several months?

Also, if not intending to settle in Quebec, my husband does not need a CSQ? So therefore I can leave that part of the application blank?

Is there a specific way to arrange our paperwork, forms, photos and supporting documents?

Sny help would be greatly appreciated. ;D

Hi CanAusian

Don't lodge the application with Sydney, send it to Mississauga first. They will process your application to sponsor first then will send the whole package to Sydney. Our application process was fast. Lodged in late Feb and we got the visa by June so would you have enough time to go to Canada if your application gets processed quickly as well? You may not need an interview, if your application is straight forward the interview could be waived. I don't know if you are able to work in Canada during the process, perhaps one of the senior members on here could answer that.

Arrange your paperwork according to the document checklist, that seems to be the most common way people do it. Hope this little bit helps.

Yes, they started processing it on 28 July.

Hi, we are preparing an application in Melbourne and we were hoping to get some clarification as to which form(s) needs to be filled out for the medical examination? According to the South East Asia/Pacific document on the cic site, the only page we need to fill out is the last page (Appendix C). Is there another form that we need to bring along to the doctors? Do they send the results to the Sydney office directly? It seems like the documentation on this part of the process is a bit unclear.

Thanks for you help!

Hi,

My File (FAM) was received in Sydney on June16 2011 and they started processing the file on July 14th 2011.

Well by looking at few cases in the forum.....some people are really lucky to have the whole process finished within 4 months.

I am waiting anxiously for the next step as I really want to be in Canada by October (Fingers Crossed) :D

:o

Uhmmmmm people I just noticed something........that...........quite a few people had their passport requested on 25th of the month.....andddddd tommorrow is 25th of this month.........getting goosebump........tommorrow might just be the "D DAY" (i PRAY).

;D

Just thought I would add my info to the mix, its been reassuring reading about everyone else's applications slowly making their way through:

We are in NZ and applied under Family class, my wife is a Canadian and I am a Kiwi.

We applied to Mississauga on the 20th April
File was transferred to Sydney on 7th June
Processing since 8th July
Docs were requested (police certificate) on 27th July (dated 9 days earlier!)
'Medical results received' appeared on e-cas about a week ago

Hope that we get the passport request soon!

Well Sydney office is quite unpredictable........anyday can be the lucky day!!!!! ;D

I'm applying through Sydney too (and obviously hoping for a speedy processing)

My file was received in Sydney on August 10 and started processing on August 18. My most recent ecas update is that medical results have been received.

I'm an Aussie, being sponsored by my Canadian husband.

Will keep you posted on progress...

Good luck everyone :)

Just a quick warning to everone who are going to apply/have applied............I just received a reply email from sydney(I sent them an email yesterday to check my file status) email says that..........they require Australian Federal Police clearance with Fingerprint and name as the one they have for me in file is only with name. They are saying that they sent a letter to me on 2nd August(which never came to me and almost a month has gone by since then).

So people please make sure you submit Police clearance with fingerprint.

Hi Mark1701,

I only took Appendix C to the medical checkup. I was given a signed form back, make sure you get that and include it with your application. I'm in Perth and the medical results were sent to Singapore.
