Landed in Toronto last week of December.....
Awesome! Hope it was quick and pain free....I'll be landing at Toronto...eventually.

It took us about an hour the whole process (Toronto Pearson airport). You can also get your SIN next to the office where you officially become a resident but
opted not to because the waiting was too long. But it took us 10 minutes to apply for SIN in the city hall the next day.

That sounds pretty simple! I think I'll follow your lead and get my SIN at city hall.

SIN you get at service canada.

COPR is finally in my hands, issued 2014/12/22. Will be travelling to the border today to land.
Happy days.

Also found out current wait time for PR Card is 176 days, and there is a wait time of 1 month to get an appointment in Vancouver downtown office to land.
I would wait for that but my travel insurance runs out today :P

Just cross the border and come back (if in Canada) with your CoPR. no need for an appointment when you apply outland

Oh, well ignore what i said, carry on .... carry on

I landed at Vancouver Airport today, pretty simple. The line was reasonably long, but since I had a 18 month old with me who after being stuck on various planes/airports for the previous 21 hours and with more ahead of us still, quite understandably didn't want to sit patiently in line, a very nice officer let us just jump to the front. If that had not happened I'm not sure I would have made me next flight even though I had 3.5 hour stop over, although who knows quite how much faster I would have been without a toddler.

Can anyone give me some info on how/what company they used to move household goods and pets?
I'm probably only going to bring one dresser and about 5 boxes of miscellaneous stuff, depending on costs!
It's got to go from Adelaide to Toronto. The pet is a cat which, quite frankly I would happily leave behind....but my son is pretty attached!!
Any info/suggestions appreciated.

We used Sevenseasworldwide for our boxes and All Care Pet Transport for our cat but this is from Perth and I think that pet transport is local to Perth... I did get a quote from jetpets and they seemed good too

my husband just landed in Pearson yesterday make sure you bring a detailed list of all your items to follow for customs.

Landing went smoothly... pretty straight forward. Glad to be home after 8 years of being in Australia!

I used JetPets and was very happy with the service. It was quite expensive for a 40kg dog but i am sure it will be a lot cheaper for a cat.

That's who I was looking at, thanks for the info. Did you buy your own crate or use theirs?

You end up buying the actual crate as they cannot reuse them. Ours was so large we could not fit it in the car in Canada so left it at immigration so someone could upgrade for free when shipping their pet somewhere else.
