Hey is anyone here in New Zealand and planning to ship possessions to Canada, My husband and I are trying to find a cheaper option then buying a whole container, does any have any tips or suggestions? thanks! All we need to ship is one mechanics tool box with about $5000 worth of tools in it

Hi there, Just a quick message to say that I have found this forum very helpful in my application for PR (sponsorship through Sydney, I am from NZ). My application was received on 25 Jan 2013 and I received my confirmation of PR on 10 July 2013. I have added the dates from my application to the spreadsheet - I hope that helps others.

Hi There,

Just wondering if Sydney requests more documents for your application do they request early on when they provide an acknowledgement of receipt
or when it goes in progress?
I'm wondering because my application is on its way to Sydney after receiving stage 1 approval. I did my police checks back in march so will they still be valid when they finally open it or should I be proactive and go get them redone

I'm trying to arrange shipping from NZ now but if all you need to take is a tool box I'd recommend trying to take it over with you. How much does it weigh? If two of you are travelling Air NZ you could take their prepaid baggage option - it's NZD$95 for the first extra bag and a total of NZD$240 to take two additional bags with you. With two additional bags that gives you 23kg x 3. You can each do this. If the toolbox is too big and expensive to take as oversize baggage you may find it's cheaper to buy a toolbox over there and just take the tools spread across your suitcases.

Your other option is to ship it as a part container load but this means that your toolbox isn't moved until the shipper fills the container with other people's goods. You risk having the toolbox sitting around in NZ for months as when it ships depends entirely on other people needing part loads.

I believe they should request documents when your file is in process. AOR is just an acknowledgement of receipt, usually docs are requested with passport or few days before that...

Note: i filed my application at March 2013.

My letter said, "your final determination interview has been scheduled for [date] @ [time]." Then it went on to say bring your passport, spouse and two identification photographs. I then received my COPR and supporting documents in the mail, about a week later and I went into the interview prepared for questions they would ask. Both husband and I were very nervous. However the interview was not that sort at all. The officer just asked if I have any criminal records (she needed to hear it in person) then she signed and I signed and I became a permanent resident. I did not have to cross the border. In fact I think I asked more question than she did.

Does your letter say its the "final determination interview"? It's always better to be prepared. My husband and I prepared by asking each other random questions. When we got married, the marriage commissioner told us, don't be surprised by the questions they ask. They can ask very private and personal questions.

Sorry I probably scared you more. Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst!

A lot more people have been getting interviews lately. Including you, theer are 2 more people atleast that are going to Sydney for interview. Just be prepared! good luck to you

Hey guys i also got an interview in Sydney office towards the end of this month. Its quite unique situation as not many people has been asked for interviews. I had some minor issues in my application so my interview is understandable. I wonder if the other people had some minor complications in their cases as well..

Anyway i am hoping it to be a non-issue and hope interview goes well. Cant wait till all this waiting period is over.

No, still shows "Application Received"

It was originally scheduled for 2nd of October but I had it rescheduled to 31st of July.
