Just got my medical done yesterday, now finalizing the application and hope to submit by month's end. I am waiting on a police report from overseas. Should I wait for police report and apply together or can I apply now and submit that police report later. I am submitting AFP police report, the other report is of my time when I lived in my home country.

best that you submit the a complete application as possible (therefore, submit police report with application) to avoid delays.

I agree with marcopolocan, wait and submit a complete application.

Yea gonna do that. Wait n submit all documents together.

Hi All

Just an update.. Sydney VO have requested my 10 year traffic history - I was unaware this was needed !! Apparently only an Australian requirement. It's a delay and a pain to organise from Canada..
So for all applying for PR be aware of this!!

Hey Sammi,
Yeah - it doesn't state this is the country specific information, but the only reason I knew was because they request it when you apply for a working holiday VISA. I think it's because any drink driving charges don't show up on Australian Police records, only traffic history...

I just sent my aussie boyfriend's application this afternoon through UPS. it will arrive at mississauga office tomorrow at noon. now we just wi :-)

hopefully everything will be approved before june 2013, when his working holiday visa expires.

thanks for all the advice on here!

Shoot, I didn't include this in my app. I thought traffic history was only for VIC and QLD residents. Sammi, did you live in either VIC or QLD in the past 10 years?

It was my understanding that it was only for Vic and Qld. residents.

Yep, as far as I know that's correct! I have lived in Qld and NSW, and only needed to supply the Qld one...

that's a relief. thanks!

Ha, I didn't even know the traffic report was only for QLD and Vic!

Luckily (for anyone else needing this and they're in Canada) I was able to authorise my dad to go into Dept of Transport on my behalf, just scan and email 3 forms of certified ID and letter of authorisation and the QT Release of Information form to your contact and they can get it. Then they are able to post direct to Sydney VO.
Sooo much quicker than getting a money order (costs AU$20) mailing to QT with docs, waiting for processing and return mail to Canada, then mailing it back to Sydney VO.

A possible 6 weeks wait turned into 2 days. At first I was freaking out! Crisis over. haha

Good luck Figgy!

I am sure it will be processed by then, but if not there are a few sneaky ways of extending his WHV for just a few months. He can apply for a change of status to visitor. It will mean he can't work once it is processed and approved, however it can take a few months to process and as long as the application is received before his WH ends he will be on implied status. Effectively giving him an extra couple months of work and health care. Don't apply for it until the last minute though. They recommend 30 days before expiration, but I have submitted these applications on the day of expiration (I don't recommend this, my employer did it and I just about killed her) and another app for new WP just three days before expiration of old one and they were fine.

You can look into it more closer to the time. The Sydney office is really fast so chances are good that he will have PR by then anyway.

thanks for that info rachly!

i'm not so worried about the working holiday visa expiring now as luckily we have some options. but I'm also being positive and also think the PR will be approved before then :-)

thanks and good luck
