;D hi all,i'm an indonesian just want to share how unbelieveable fast sydney visa office processed.i've got email that my application received in sydney 5th march 2012 and on 28 march 2012 i've got letter acceptance, and ask me to send passport for the visa.wooowwww,,i still can't believe this happened so fast.good luck for everybody who's still waiting,it will come soon.and congratulation to everybody ;)

congrats! that is great news, i hope it will that fast for us too.

I have a question for anyone who had to get an Aussie police check. It should last 12 months, but do you know long the CIC will accept it for? We have one from November 2011 and have yet to apply, when we do in the next, the police check will be 6 months old. do you think they will ask for a new one?

any help would be great.

thanks

Hi Figgy.

You will have to get a new AFP police check. The CIC website states that the police check must have been completed within 3 months of your application. You may not have to get another fingerprint check done, call the AFP and explain the situation. They keep the fingerprints for a while and may just be able to do a re-check of the fingerprints you already submitted. You will have to send in a new request form however.

thanks for that, even though it's bad news :-( it is such a hassle in the first place! especially with the bank draft .... we had to send it to his parents in OZ first, then have them get the bank draft then they had to submit it....

anyway, thanks for the advice about the fingerprints i hope you are right. i am going to call them now and see what they say, that would save us a bit of time and frustration.

do you think its worth sending the rest of the application with the old police checks (6 months old) while we wait for the new ones?

thanks again!

I think I would wait until you have the new clearance, but maybe someone else with more experience with this would disagree. Also, I'm not sure if he's from Queensland or Victoria, but if he is then you also have to include his driver's abstract along with the police check in your application. You don't have to do this from the other states.

Does anybody know if the fingerprint check is an absolute requirement? The CIC website seems to say you only need a "standard disclosure - name check", yet from all reports people say that the fingerprint check is required.

Also, misskay noted that a digital/scanned fingerprint is acceptable. Does anybody know how that works?

Just heard back from the consulate in Sydney. Fingerprints no longer required.

Cheers.

Arrrrggghhh! I guess I'm glad to hear that fingerprints are no longer required, but I wish they would have done that a little sooner. We had a heap of difficulty trying to get my husband's dependent son in for fingerprints. If they hadn't been required, we would have been spared a lot of grief.

Well at the very least, you save a few bucks not having to pay for the fingerprint check. :)

FYI for those interested, this was the response I received from the consulate:

****
Good day,

Thank you for your email. Due to recent changes you are now required to submit a police certificate issued in name only. See attached document.
****

They also sent an attachment that indicated the change was made on Dec 19, 2011.

i have also noticed that the fingerprint requirement has been taken off the CIC website when reading about how to get a police check in Australia!!!

I am glad you were able to confirm this for me as the CIC agent just kept saying "i'm not sure, check the website"...UGH

We got the police check in November WITH fingerprints and have no learned it is too old to submit, so a WHOLE new police check needs to be done! at least this time, we won't need the hassle and cost of the fingerprints!

thanks everyone

Hi All,

I have a quick question regarding police checks and the 3 month "validity" before sending the application.

The date on mine is the 27/April/12 and I intend to send my entire application before the 20th of July.

Will the 3 month validity be incorporated into the processing time, or is it deemed ok if received before the 3 month period is up?
It was just a pain to get mine (I ended up getting fingerprints, thinking they were still needed) and want to avoid having to get a new "Name check only" police certificate if possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Hi BagelBagel,

My husband had his police check (full fingerprint deal) done on Jan 10, our app was rec'd on Mar. 28, so just shy of the 3 month window and we are now on to stage 2. I think you will be fine with that timeline.

Thanks!!!

Hi All !

Just noticed there was a Sydney thread so thought I'd share my timeline and encouragement :)

My app changed to 'In Process' status from July 20, 2012, I'm hoping that means something's going to be decided soon???!
Has anyone had experience with how long from when this status changes to when a decision is made?
Or maybe I'm just needing to calm down!! 8)

Good luck everyone!

Thanks Canstralian, that saves me a lot of grief :)

Hope you are enjoying Canada day festivities!!
