Ok, I'm a newbie and a little confused one too ;D
I'm not Australian, however I do currently live here with my Canadian boyfriend. All this talk about visa offices..So do we send the application first to Mississauga (don't all outland applications go there?) and then they will forward it to the visa office of my choice, which would be Sydney for me? In some of the forms they ask which visa office you wish to use; do I put Sydney in it? But I send the application to Mississauga anyway?
Too complicated for my tired brain....
Hi Pätkis
As I undestand it Outland (outside of Canada) applications for sponsorship of spouse, common law or conjugal partners
all get submitted to Mississauga. Once they receive it they assess the sponsor, and if the sponsor is approved this will be forawrded to the Visa Office you have selected (although as you can see above, mistakes can be made :
) so they can assess the applicant for permanent residency. The visa office you select must be either:
- your country of nationality, or
- the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year.
I sent my application off too Mississauga, andhopefully very shortly we will hear back from them to say it's been transferred to Sydney.
Hope that helps?!
