Hi,

First time poster.

This website has been great for my Canadian wife and I.

Sponsored by my wife for family sponsorship to Toronto.

I will give my timeline which will help others.

Medicals April 2015.
We sent the application around May 2015 to Missiauaga.
Had to send additional Family Information (IMM5406) 5 June 2015 (Delayed the application)
AOR 1 - 29 July 2015 (confirmation that they received the application around 26 May 2015)
AOR 2 - 1 September 2015
Passport Request - 29 December 2015
Sent the copies of the passport on the 4th Jan 2016.

Sydney office took roughly 17 weeks or 4 months.

So hopefully, I will get the visa in a week or 2.

Other info that might help people in the future is that our infant child who was born in Australia in March 2015 is accompanying us to Canada with her own Canadian passport, made her a citizen during my application process and she received her passport on the 27 December 2015.

I hope that helps people who are waiting patiently in the Sydney office.

Timing for AOR

Quick question...I'm Canadian an my boyfriend is Australian and I'm sponsoring him as my common-law partner. We sent in our Outland application on November 21, 2015. We saw that it was received and signed for. I haven't heard anything yet, should I be worried? When should I heard about AOR?

Nah, it's still early. We sent our in in late September, it was received in October, but we weren't notified until December (per my timeline). I think they are quoting 68 days for SA approval, which is usually a week or so after you'll get an email confirming receipt (AOR).

Good luck!

Hi all

First time poster here. This forum has been extremely helpful so I decided to join in.

I'm an Aussie married to a Canadian the last 8 years. We have lived in Melbourne all that time and are looking to return to Canada this year with our 2 kids.

Sent Family Class sponsorship application in late November 2015.

Having a minor panic about sending by registered post rather than courier. Can anyone vouch for using registered post through Australia Post? I paid for a delivery receipt which is basically a detachable return mailer that comes back once delivery made. But still nothing.

Anyway Im hoping to hear something as we are now on about the 30 day mark.

Cheers

You won't hear anything for another month or so...Stage one AOR takes that long usually.
We have a Facebook group for Aussie and Kiwi PR applicants if you are interested...all of us have been/are going through the process.

Thanks applechunks. I would like to join that FB group. Will do so soon.

Another question: is it possible to enter Canada while my PR is still in process through the Sydney office? Or is it advisable for the whole family to remain here until the whole process is complete?

You can enter Canada...but only as a visitor. You need to be cautious about the language that you use when entering I.e. Don't say that you are "moving" here or "living" here. Make sure that you reiterate that you understand that you are visiting and cannot work. Also having a return ticket dated within 6 months of your arrival will help to prove that you understand your obligations.

Applechunks is spot on about the timeline. We sent our application in late September, and only got confirmation in December it was received and processing began in October.

Re: entry... My Aussie husband, son and I just returned from a month in Canada. This didn't even occur to me when we went (tho it was booked before we submitted his application). I wouldn't worry so long as you have return tickets. We simply said we were here for a holiday, and had no problems.

Good luck!!

OK thanks Kate and Apples for your advice. I will keep you posted on my processing dates and add them to the spreadsheet. Cheers Landy67.

Has anyone on this thread used Australia Post for successful delivery to CPC Mississauga?

Of course I have heard the horror stories of items being mislaid by Canada Post etc, but am keen to know if anyone can confirm successful delivery to CPC Mississauga. Im assuming Canada Post take over delivery of the item once it reaches Canada.

(FYI - I sent my application from Australia in late November 2015, via Registered Post, but have heard nothing. No delivery receipt. Nada. Have lodged missing mail enquiry with AP today. Spewing I didn't use a courier).

Cheers

Quick question....hopefully someone can provide me with suggestions

I am a sept applicant. I would like to visit my wife in Canada....how hard is it to get the eta? And what are the chances of entry being refused at the port of entry? Can I apply for TRV still even though Australia is a visa free country for Canada?

Pls share your experiences.....

Thanks a lot

Don't apply for a TRV, the ESTA I imagine is like the States where you will get it pretty much straight away (presuming you have no criminal issues) and from what I've seen that are pretty good about letting you visit your spouse while a PR application is well and truly in process. Make sure you have a return ticket of course.
