Hi Has anyone sent their applications to the Guatemala Embassy in September 2009? If so where are you in the process?

We started on Sept 18, 2009 and immigration has had his passport since January, we did his medicals and police check and were not asked for an interview. Just wanting to compare here!

Hi,

Like I said in some other posts, Gutemala have our papers since january 2010 and asked for the passport in febuary, and got everything in may (they gave us 3 months to give all the papers back, including the passport). Anyway, we are in august and still no news from them. The MP gave a call in july and they haven't had checked the papers still, they were suppose to do it at the end of july, but who knows what happen since then.

I hears of a Quebec girl who sent the papers in dec. 2009 and she had an answer in mid-june and her hubby is now in Qc.

I'm applying through Guatemala office. How can you contact the MP. Is it only if you are in Canada or can you do it outside Canada.
I'm soory I know I shouldn't be in this thread, but is just that I've being trying to find people applying through Guatemala to share timeline and it seems impossible . ANd when I read your post I was excited. I've being waiting for passports since May 6th and it seems endless. But I read in another post that Guatemala is so slooooow.

Yaay people in Guatemala!

Yes it is super slow, they started processing ours on Sept 18, 2009 and have had our passport since January. Ugh so slow

I am getting my MP to contact them this week, so i'll update you on it later.

Use Google to find out who your MP is in Canada and email them. Mine said to fax an authorization form and she'll contact them for me asap. Apparently they respond to emails and faxes from your MP within a week!

Please let me know if you hear anything about your own situations. We can all help and support each other here.

Hello!

You can contact your MP outside Canada. I did it a few times by email and she was updating me. But sometimes they are not doing that much, like the last time I called her she only said they haven't had checked the papers yet, and not to contact her again because we still are in the normal delays (yeah, but the longest waiting time is 18 lonnnnng months!!!!)

So, no idea... I don't know how these guys are working, seriously... you are right saying that it's hard to find people that are sponsering people from central america, and it's like if we are not that much, so i think it's "latino time", which means they are really taking their time, "no stress"...! Yeah well.... anyway, I hope we'll have some infos soon, i'd love to stay in touch with you 2, to see if there is any progress somewhere....!!

It looks like we have a similar timeline, stay in touch so we can see each others progress plz...and you are so right about the "latin time" lol. it is taking forever. They shouldnt have the passports that long

You are right, and you know what's sad about it? I was just thinking, this week: hey, I might take a plane to Cuba in december and ask him to come for a week or two, so it might be cheapest to go there and shorter for me (and baby to come). But then I tought: jeez! he can't even get outta there because he has no passport for now!!!

soooooo looks like i'll be back there soon...!

Ugh i know! Its so frustrating! We've been wanting to go to Mexico for a while now, he just took his vacation days from work and we couldnt even leave the country! So I know how u feel!

Weird question: I'm from the province of Québec. And I'm wondering why aren't we doing a massive movement about this ambassy. I mean, lately, in Québec, a lot of persons are saying stuff in the newspapers regarding of the immigration. In Guatemala, it's one of the longest one in the world. From 7 to 18 months waiting. It's not like a 4 to 7 months, where you can still wait for your husband or wife to come...

To give you an example, we've been waiting for 7 months, my husband and I, since we send everything in GUatemala. If we don't have an answer in november, what are we gonna do? I mean, do I have to rent my apartment in Quebec and join him in Nica for the waiting? For how long to I have to rent my apartment? 1 month? 6 months? I can't even put my susbscription to do my MBA.

With this ambassy, we can't do long term projects... maybe if everybody do a move towards it, we can send kind of a message to the canadian government about having some more officers there or opening a 2nd ambassy... anyway, i'll do it here, if anybody wanna join!!!

you're right we should do something about it...but to be honest i have no idea where to start. if someone wants to start something ill support it! Should we like make a petition or talk to the MP or something?

Hi Mrs Casanova,

Well, what i'll do is that i already join a journalist and he's covering these kind of things. I don't know much about your case, like for how long you've been waiting, if they already refused a touristic visa for you, since how long they have the passport, etc.

If you've been waiting for a while, you can tell the journalist that you have no news, you are waiting for your hubby to come here and you have no way to know what's going on in your husband's residency. Are you in Canada and him in central am.?

We should talk about the longggg waiting times with this ambassy, one of the longest in the world, and we don't know why it takes so long and blablabla...!

I think the article about our case we'll be in the local newspaper next week... i'll keep you in touch about it if you wanna know what happened..!
