Does no news means good news? I am anxious : (

You and me both. I must admit that I beginning to worry a bit. Seeing how straight forward our case was and that we are going through a relatively fast embassy (London) I was hoping to have had the PR looong ago. Having had our PR app 'lost in the mix' when my family migrated to Canada 13 years ago, I have visions of my girlfriend's file, fallen between two desks and undiscovered for months... yikes!

OK, positive thinking, positive thinking... :)

For london,

when you drop and pickup your passport, do you recieve any information on landing and what you have to do??
You get a letter with some info, some very important. All the URLs in the text are outdated, though. It can be helpful to read this.

Haha, yea I found it amusing that the URLs were not working anymore ;)

Question for you guys, what do you do about health insurance? Do you get a private one for the first three months or do you simply wait for Medicare?

Also, am I understanding it right, that you just have to tell customs about the cash that you bring when you're landing, not the money you transfer or plan on transferring? I get confused with the terms because English is obviously not my mother tongue ;)

I have a health insurance for "extended visits abroad" that's attached to my mom's home insurance since I'm still registered in Sweden as residing in her house.

Regarding the money issue, it says explicitly in the letter that it's about money you physically bring with you. If it applied to money you have in your old country and want to wire here I'm sure it'd say so.

Hello All,

My name is Amanda, I am a canadian citizen. My husband used to live in the states and then got sent back to Guyana (was my boyfriend at the time). When he went back to Guyana we got married and I submitted all our applications to the Mississauga office on October 9, 2009. It was received by CPC-Mississauga on October 12, 2009. A decision was made on October 26, 2009 and I received a letter of sponsorship approval on November 1, 2009. :) My husband's Permanent Residence package was sent to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad (processes applications for Guyana) and they started processing it on November 23, 2009. On December 24, 2009 we received a confirmation letter from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad stating that they started processing his file and they also gave us his Immigration File Number. Now we're waiting on a decision I guess??!!??!! QUESTION: Does anyone know what happens next?

Also, when we submitted our package we did not include his police clearance from the states as we did not receive it at the time, when we did receive it...we sent it in (Jan 10/10) but up to now there's no status update on his file or mine. QUESTION: When Port-of-Spain, Trinidad receives any documents do they update the site?
QUESTION: Anyone sent back from the states, did you get a FBI police clearance or just the one from the individual state you're living in?

I also submitted "additional documents proving on-going relationship" (also in Jan '10) and once again, no status update. QUESTION: Can someone please tell me if they've also submitted "additional documents" and what happened??

Anyone in a similar boat here??

Thank you for reading my query, I hope someone can help with some answers for me and give me back some hope that I've lost...and I'll try to do the same for you.

-Amanda

i tried creating a new thread... and asking this question... but, NO one is answering...

my husbands passport and request form was sent to new york last tuesday... how long do we have to wait until it is sent back?!

Hello all,

I received calls from CIC Manila this afternoon but unfortunately I was not able to answer those calls (2 miss calls) . I was in the middle of my class and phones are prohibited...

They already have my passport last Dec.2 and they started processing my application last Nov. 9, 2009.

Should I call them back first thing in the morning, or should I jsut wait until they call me again?

I'm anxious...please help... :(

I think you should give them 2-3 weeks plus transit. Don't worry... :)
