Wow, so much progress this week - I'm so excited and encouraged! Congrats guys!

Now if we could just get Service Ontario to hurry up with our darned marriage certificate, they'll no doubt be needing it shortly... grrr...

Cheers,

When did you have your marriage, and when did the person who performed the wedding submitt the paperwork....

i guess we just have to wait...

I'm sorry but A, this is my first marriage and B, I'm American. so this is all a bit confusing for me

is it something i should have gotten after the wedding?

i will save you my second question and try to find the pdf for my region to see if i actually need one, i would hate to go through all of this and be denied because I'm missing a form

You will definitely need a marriage certificate, no matter what region you are in.

What state did you get married in? You get the copy from the vital statistics office there.

we were married in Canada, all i have is a marriage license. I'm looking on the service new Brunswick site right now.

thank you so much, the closer i get to sending it the more it seems like i am doing everything wrong.

i couldn't wait until i received a letter... so, i called the immigration call center.

and i have been APPROVED to sponsor my husband... and they have sent the paperwork onto buffalo! :)

Licence and certificate, I meant the same thing - sorry, didn't mean to scare you!!!

License and certificate are not the same thing. The marriage license is what you get BEFORE you get married, and is required to get married.

A certificate is what you get AFTER you get married, and the marriage has been registered by the government.

So the license is a permission, but the certificate is the actual proof of marriage. They need a marriage certificate; they will not accept a marriage license, as it does not prove that you actually got married.

great news, congratulations! now the main waiting period begins!

I have a question... are we supposed to see updates on e-cas once PR is in process? My wife received the AOR last week with PPR but the way it's written on the letter, they will advise if more documents are needed,, if they do, will it say it online while the letter's been sent? This week, the only update on e-cas is they put my wife's mailing address (she's in China, I'm in Canada),, and I read somewhere that some cases, e-cas indicated if documents were required.

Thanks in advance! :o)
