To my July buddies,
My movers are showing up today and we're going to start our little adventure towards the border this evening and will land by tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know how it all works out once we get internet up and running at our new house. Thanks for all the advice and understanding through this crazy period in all of our lives...I wish you all a great week!
-Laura

I hope moving goes smoothly USA2CANADA.

Update from me: my husband declined his job offer :( After speaking to our Realtor we aren't even sure we will be able to move by the time my visa is expired now.

E-cas updated to "Decision Made" this morning.

It's a little odd that we haven't received a single email communication from Buffalo at this point, we've only gotten letters from Buffalo. But e-cas has updated at most steps along the way.

Fingers crossed that we get something in mail real soon!!

hi everyone!!!
finally the nightmare is over...as of Nov 26 I am a new Canadian Permanent Resident
Since I was already in Canada my husband and I went to Niagara/Bufalo port of entry...as we approached to the Canadian IO I started to feel so many mix feelings, I was nervous, anxious, happy, excited, relieve....

The officer asked a few questions such as: If I have any dependants?, If any information I provided had change?, If I was ever ordered to leave Canada?, If I have told the truth when filling the application?
Then it was time to sign the confirmation paper...he told me like 3 times make sure to sing slowly and without getting outside the space provided...I was yeah yeah....started slowly and then when I relize part of my signature was out of the box :S ohh noooo.....
The office laugh and said "I told you"....he handed me another paper and started all over..OOPS!

Then waited for a couple of minutes, he called us again and that was it...gave me my papers back and told me I could now get my SIN card, and Health card and that I would receive the PR card in 2 months (which I consider is a lot of time)...and he mention something else but neither my husband and I could process the information....we were so excited and happy. LOL

And that was it...we got out of there and went to celebrate....

Thank you all for the support and help through this tough times....
Good luck, wish you all a fast process and happy ending very soon.
CHEERS!

Congratulations Galmxcan, I hope Canada is everything you want it to be and more.

glamxcan: congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! such wonderful news just gives hope to all uf us! be happy!!!!

My handy little timeline below shows me that today is exactly 3 months since we started processing in Pretoria. I'm crossing every finger and toe and hoping that we have our PPR by the end of the year. Will hope for the few others still waiting from the July group too!

Would be really nice to start off 2011 knowing what's ahead of us!

Congrats to all the recent PPRs and those who've landed... hope to join you soon!!!

Well, I officially landed yesterday and it was super easy! I had to import a car, a pet, and all my stuff so I had no "goods to follow" list. No one ever came to look at my car, never opened the truck to check anything out, and they actually told me to leave my cat in the tr and not to bring her in to customs and they never even looked at her vet paperwork. Overall, a simple and painless procedure.

Congratulations USA2BCCanada, I am glad to hear it was painless.

I finally mailed off my passport to NYC last week!

I asked them to return it before the holidays so I could travel... here's hoping!

Congratulations to the new permanent residents!

Just a little update for me: I redid the medicals (the old ones were expired) and they've already been sent to Paris. Hopefully I'll hear some news by January I guess... ???

WE GOT OUR PPR TODAY!! We are asked to mail the passport in by December 20th, and the letter indicates that my partner must land before our child is born (although our baby will be born in Canada to a Canadian parent, and the application will not need to be re-filed to include her, just to include her information).

We already had a bunch of errands to do today, but I've never been happier to add a trip to the post office to the list!

Congratulations!! Isn't it a relief?

Yes!! Definitely!! Especially because for some reason, unlike everyone else on this board, our e-cas updated before we got the PPR and we got our PPR by mail, instead of by email.... even though we'd emailed buffalo.

Just goes to show - you never know.

Guys a small question:

Do spouses under Family class sponsorship need to possess any money when they travel to Canada? Does Immigration officer ask for it? If yes, how much should they carry?
