CONGRATS SIMSPSON!!!!

So we went to Fort Erie Peace Bridge to land. That was really easy and officers were really friendly. Just be there before the traffic starts :) we went on Saturday around 8 am, so ~9.30 am we were there. As you approach the border just keep in the left line; you'll see the immigration and customs buildings (those are for those returning from US to Canada on the other side of road)- just keep slowly driving in the left line you'll see the sign "RETURN to Canada" and orange traffic cones on the road, so just make a left, wait in the line and go thru the gates as usually. We just told the officer we are here to land and we just made a u-turn and didn't go to US. He just checked the documents and said to park and go into the building. There were just couple people, so the lady officer took the documents and in 10-15 minutes we were out of there. On the way home we went to the Lawrence mall Service Canada and the same day my husband got a SIN. So ~ 1Pm we were already home !!!! So everything went smooth and nice! :D
GOOD luck to you guys!!!!

Its nice to hear that it went so smoothly. Mine was quick too. Although we went to the States first, shopping in the Outlet mall for few hours. I didn´t have that green paper for the States anymore (it was in my old one...and it was expired too) So i had to get a new one. The room was filled with people, but somehow it only took 30 min. and 6 dollaris. Shoppting was fun..and we had no problems at "landing" Lady was super nice and it took 10 to 15 min. There is a service canada in Guelph too, so I am going tomorrow to get that and health card too. My friend lost his wallet, so he is coming with me because he needs the same stuff :D. OMG. I am so happy it is over!!!

2 weeks until my husband's interview!!!!!!!!!! and another 5 weeks after that till the expiry of his medical........Ohhhhhh the anxiety!

SO happy for everyone here that's gotten their application finalized and received their visas. I REALLY hope I can join you in happiness SOON.

We got the letter from Sydney yesterday requesting my wife's passport! The big stressful waiting is over! We're hoping to 'land' by the end of august, I was pleased to read that you don't actually have to cross the u.s. Border to do so...

Congradz hey, good for you. Hey i was just wondering, did you eventually have to do the medicals and get info for the kids? How did it go on that one I m kinda stuck.

Congratulations! Six months all up, so you are under the median time. How was it dealing with Sydney? Did they acknowledge when they received your app, and keep you updated at all?

Thanks! lynw- Sydney was fine; we didn't hear much from them after an initial letter saying that they had started processing our application (at the beginning of March), and then requesting additional information for one question which didn't seem to slow things down too much - oh, and they momentarily lost my wife's police certificate, but when we asked them politely to check again it turned up :) Our ecas still says 'in process', i don't think there's much point even checking it.

Oh, and Perfect - not sure about the medicals, we did it before and submitted it with the application but I think it varies from country to country - very confusing though.

This thread is probably dead now, but for all those who started their application in January of 2010, my wife's application has been granted!!! We are now completed, although it took quite sometime, I just wanted to let you guys know, since we started together. Congrats to you guys and let us live happily with our spouse in Canada!!!!

cheers
