Hey all,

I submitted an outland application to CPC-M on January 18, 2010 - received January 19, 2010 but have had no luck finding information on e-cas and am still awaiting the sponsor approval.

It is a Quebec case, and I am in a 3 year common-law relationship, we have been together for 6 years. Do common-law applications have a lesser priority? Or am I just being impatient?!

I have read that many of the January submissons have received their approvals. Anyone in the same boat as us? ie. 7 weeks waiting for an update on e-cas/approval letter?

My c-l partner has been in Canada from Brazil for close to 9 nine years for school (he came to study in highschool) and he is finishing his last year in Montreal so his study permit is going to expire in August 2010. I am really anxious to get the approval and keep moving forward so he does not have to apply for a post-grad work permit to stay in September.

Any response is greatly appreciated.

GO CANADA GO!

Fibud - It might be because it is a Quebec case, so check the processing times for the specific visa office, I'm sure you'll hear from them soon. If not you can always try contacting them via the cic website contact information. Sorry I don't know too much about common law sponsorship times.

- I also have a question for anyone who knows, are the sponsorship approval letters like generic, like just say the same thing as anyone elses? or do they contain any key information pertaining specifically to ones case? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm currently residing outside of Canada (in Antigua) and CIC- Mississauga did mail our letter (containing the decision) on Feb 19, the same day it was processed... but I still have not received it. Does it usually take this long? I know I gave the right address and it is showing up correctly on e-cas... but I don't know what to do. The woman at the post office said it generally takes 3 weeks for anything to arrive, but is it express mail or just mailed normally like any other letter? Anyone know?

Thank you in advance :)

Hi Amber
CIC-Mississauga normally sends decision made letters to Clients by regular mail. Only the Visa offices, they send Passport back to Client by Registered Mail. All other letters are sent by regular mail.

Hi guys!!!!!!! I'm soo happy, I finally got the letter and I was approved as a sponsor! yayyyy :D
So now they said that they are going to forward the application to the visa office in Damascus.

Hopefully it won't be too long, but I know generally it's 3-7 months now to wait... ???
So now the waiting game begins...

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats Amber, Nice to hear about your case :)
better late than never seems to be true ;)

WOO! congrats ambar!!!

fingers crossed that my approval will arrive shortly so i can stop going crazy ???

Thanks guys!
and fibud I'm sure it will, hang in there because your timeline resembles mine!

Gluck to everyone, I'll keep updating on my status

thanks ambar!

your timeline includes processed application and sponsor approved - was this information you got off of E-cas? i cannot access that information with my online payment confirmation number and my name or my partner's name....i think if still no sign of letter on monday i will try to call them to confirm...hopefully i can get some answers!

Hey Fibud,

It actually said decision made but it was approved so I just wrote that, sorry for the confusion :)
But I've changed it now.

OMG i am going to cry....or pull my hair out!!!!!!!!!!

the CIC website went from saying they are processing applications from January 26, 2010 in 38 days - to processing applications from January 7, 2010 in 64 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

patience is not my strong suit, and luck is not on my side! CIC needs to get its act together - how can i still be waiting for any update while some who submitted in FEB. 2010 are already approved?!?! i just don't understand and it makes it all the harder to sit around waiting....

Hi Fibud,

Its frustrating to say the least, the ones approved in Feb were even received after mine was..whats up with that??

and imagine yours being received in January, I would be going insane. From the update, and what I have read the Haiti applications must be starting to take a toll on the workers over there.

yeah, it must be since the earthquake was Jan. 12/2010 if i remember correctly - the Hatian applications must be flooding in now...

still makes no sense that apps. in FEB. have been approved...but there is nothing we can do about it :'(

i will have to get my partner to apply for his post grad work permit this summer as i doubt his PR will be ready by August with these delays. or he could go back to Brazil i suppose for a mini vacation but i don't think that will happen unless his parents will pay for the ticket!

he can come visit me.. I am in Brazil right now ;D

Just when they were starting the Feb applications they stopped :( I was soooo close!!

lucky! i would love to be in brazil now in the warm sunshine, at the beach, eating picanha hahaha...and to be out of the dampness here in montreal, although its been mild and hopefully there won't be anymore snow coming along!

i just spoke to an agent at CIC and she was very nice but not helpful really. she said that she found it odd that february applications have been approved since they are only on january applications but that it can depend on many factors (ie. how many applications each day are received, they estimate how long to get through them). still doesn't make sense to me, but i hope i will get some good news in the next 2-3 weeks!

tchau!
