Thanks "tocanadafromindiana". I know you are right. In our case we are just a "boring" middle-aged couple, same age, same background, no kids, no weird life events in either of our backgrounds--just a quick "internet" falling-in-love situation. Of course, neither of us ever thought that online dating would lead to changing the country we live in or getting familiar with immigration issues!

I hope that everyone on the June thread is done and completed in six months or less! Let's all keep each other updated!

hehe same here..except for we both have children from previous relationships and we ended up having a baby together 9 months after meeting lol ;D

We met online and neither of us ever thought that online dating (well we met in online game to be exact) would lead us to this!

Keep us posted! My application is "out for delivery" in Mississauga this morning! Can't wait for the response from CIC!

Hey guys...guess I'm a part of this group too!

We're inlanders, and here's our brief timeline...

Met my husband online: 19th June 2008
Met in person: 30th October 2008
I moved to Canada: 1st May 2009
6 Months visa extension
Married: 22nd Novermber 2009
1 year visa extension
Meds done: 12th June 2010
Sent application: 14th June 2010

Omg I'm so scared! I have a mixture of feelings, don't know if I should feel relieved or nervous.

Hope this thread can help us all get through it. Good luck guys! ;)

Yay for June applicants! It's so nice to have others to share the nerves/excitement with.

Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the CPC to open your file?

I think we may have an issue with the Medical because the DMP didn't give us the proper form to include in our application. When we called him to ask for it he said my husband would have to take the exam again.. which seems ridiculous to me. To be safe we're going to have him take it again with a different doctor and mail it out ASAP so the CPC can add it to the file. I'm hoping to get it to them before they ask for it. Frustrating!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a DMP in Toronto?

Hey June people, I just checked the CIC website and it looks like they are up to applications received by May 28 and are at 41 days. Looks like those of us who sent our applications in the first week of June should be expecting some news in a week or two!

Hey all ..

Let me take pleasure in joining this thread. I am an Indian being sponsored by my husband.

We got married in April2010 and We sent our applications on 28thJune2010 and expected time of delivery is 30June2010(as told by FedEx).

We have sent my Police Clearance Certificate(that ate my 30 - 40 days of time) and Medical Copy2 along with our applications. Hoping for the sooner and happiest updates from CPC.

This forum has helped me to get answers to lot of my questions and i visit this forum everyday without fail.

I am very tensed now and anxious too... Lets all pray for everybody's approval ..

Everybody pls post ur updates without fail .... :'(

Hi everyone! My husband and I mailed our application to Mississauga last June 4. My husband typed in the track number in the Canada Post website and confirmed that the package was delivered on June 7.

We tried checking our application status through the CIC website using our receipt number. But it says there that they cannot identify us maybe because they have received the application but has not begun processing it. We haven't received any mail from them yet either.

Is it normal to wait this long before we hear something from CIC? We are getting anxious that there might be a problem with our application. Please let us know if you have the same experience. Thanks :)

Hi, I'm new to this also, but desperately need some 'peace of mind'!!

Firstly, here's my timeline so far:
Met Canadian Partner on Internet/ spoke on phone: September 2008 (sent phone bills as proof)
Met in person (6 month visit): February 2009 (sent hotel bill as proof)
Received 1yr Work permit: July 2009
He proposed: New Years Eve 2009 (sent bank statement in joint names, also showing the purchase of the ring)
Medicals done: May 31st 2010
Application sent: June 21st 2010
Application Received: June 23rd 2010

I am from the UK and have lived in Canada with my partner since Feb 2009. I applied INLAND, I know Outland is quicker but to be honest I wouldn't care if it took 5 yrs to be processed if it meant I could stay with him forever.

I too have read some horror stories, we have a back-up plan though. As I won't have the right of appeal we have to be prepared for the worst!!
I don't really understand why you can't appeal Inland (when you live together, own a house/vehicles together, maybe even have a family together), but you can appeal Outland (You live in different countries so probably don't have many joint posessions...) It just doesn't make sense to me.

But anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck.

Hey all! I'm sponsoring my wife from Lima, Peru. I've FINALLY sent our entire application package to Mississauga on Monday. I've tracked it and it remains at the post office in Mississauga.

I can't explain as to what a relief it is to have sent everything!! We had everything together and I took it all to a friend of a friend who had worked in Immigrations before and he had found a few mistakes that needed to be corrected before we could send it off. My wife corrected a few pages and faxed them back to me. The whole package, I'd say, is about 80-100 pages total not including photos. I was amazed that some ppl would send some upwards to 400-600 pages. That's incredible lol! I guess mine is slightly smaller considering her and I have never been in any previous marriages and have no children.

Fingers crossed!!

Avrg wait time for Lima, Peru = 8-12 months... yikes

Hello! New here too; sent in our outland application recently. Outland part will be processed in Sydney AU. Now trying not to look at processing times etc more than once a day - grins. Am currently outside Canada and hoping to enter as a visitor with dual intent in a couple of weeks - can't stand to be apart!

Good luck everyone!

Timeline:
Application reached Mississauga June 23rd 2010

Hi Charlene.09 - yes it is completely normal to go that long without hearing anything. When you send your sponsorship application to Mississauga, they will not send an acknowledgement or anything. The first thing you will get from them will be your (hopefully) approval. To figure out when your approval will be coming, use this website:

cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#sponsorship (copy+paste the text, it won't let me post a link yet since I am a new member)

By the chart you can tell what applications they are processing (currently ones recieved up to May 28th) so there's a little bit of time there before they get to yours. But it should be soon!
Hope that helps you :)

(P.s. your application won't show up on the online eCAS status checker until after the processing date has passed since they haven't opened your letter yet!)

Hi giggles 1985 :)

I checked the link and you're right they're still processing the ones submitted till May 28. I hope they will speed up soon. But it somehow made us feel relieved that it's normal to wait some time. Thanks a lot for replying. Big help :)
